The Submarines is a duo consisting of John Dragonetti (aka Jack Drag) and Blake Hazard (great granddaughter of F. Scott Fitzgerald!). Their 2006 debut Declare A New State was a beautiful indie pop album that charted the breakup/makeup of a relationship. With its mix of guitars, electronic beats and inventive instrumentation, it was compared in the US to the likes of Stars, Her Space Holiday, etc. Their most recent album (released in 2008) Honeysuckle Weeks is a glorious collage of the band’s wide range of influences, from old-school dub to intricately layered electronica to vintage pop, and is as diverse in theme as it is in sound.

Album track, You, Me & The Bourgeoisie, is currently being used as the soundbed for the new Apple iPhone/ Shazam TV ad.
