do you use coco extract?
Cat Morley
Jul 12, 2006 2:22am
No, I wouldn't think vaseline is dangerous.. considering the things that it is used for. And yeah, you just use the amount of coco and vaseline that you like.

Are you just doing this by feel/taste or do you use X amount of this and Y amount of that?

is vaseline dangerous if swallowed?
Kris
Jul 12, 2006 4:22am ago
I'm pretty sure Vaseline isn't dangerous. Petroleum jelly is usually an ingrediant good moisturizing lip balms... I think it is also sometimes used for burns.

Petrolium jelly is drying to the body, consider beeswax with a touch of almond oil, add what ever flavour you care to, mint, cocoa, whatever. Just another possibility and healthier for your skin. :)

Yum! I just made some of this. I used one of those plastic containers you get chinese in to melt the vaseline so I could throw it away after!

I have instant cappuchino mix... it's similar to hot cocoa mix... I think I'll try it with that!

Kris: Vaseline should never be used for burns. Post trauma burn treatment should be with specialist creams, many of which actually contain Silver Oxide! No grease or oil should ever be used.

This sounds great. Has anyone road tested this? Namely, what color are your lips when you put this on?

You could also try coconut oil mixed with beeswax. That way you could get away from the petr chemicals.

Great Idea!!!
I used some Betty Boop Pink Hot Chocolate mix for it instead of the conventional chocolate and it turned out to be pretty cool. If you want to know what color it will make your lips just put some powder on your wet lips and it gives you a pretty good idea.

Kath
Sep 16, 2006 3:03am ago
By "coco", do you mean cocoa powder - the pure kind used for baking - or instant chocolate drink powder or something else entirely?

this is so simple and easy.. this could make great little christmas presents!
Jen

You definitely shouldn't use vaseline for burns.
I believe vaseline holds in heat, which would be highlt uncomfortable.
Jen

I think this recipe would be even better if you added just a little bit of sugar to the mix! Also, it's actually pretty easy to find some empty clear lip balm tubes, is the balm of a thick enough consistancy to maintain a "stick" shape if it's dialed out of a lip balm tube?
Cat Morley
Dec 30, 2007 11:33pm
Yeah, I think it would be thick enough!
