A super-easy cover for your passes. Clip it on a bag or wear on a lanyard!
Here's a little project you can make if you've got a bus pass, security pass etc.
When I'm taking photos at gigs, they give me a pass sticker to wear, but I never know where to stick it and I'm always scared I'm going to lose it (especially when you have the same sticker to wear for 3 days at a festival), so I decided it was time to come up with a solution.

Take an old pass and lay it on top of your clear vinyl, so that it's about 6 cm from the top of the vinyl and 1 cm in from the right edge. Keeping everything nice and straight now will make it easier in a minute.
Use a rotary cutter to cut along the left edge, leaving 1 cm allowance, cut down to where the bottom of the pass is. Now move the pass down, so that the top of the pass is inline with the first cut.
Extend the cut line down to where the bottom of the pass is now. This means that your clear vinyl should by the width of your pass + 2 cm and 2 x the height of your pass + 6 cm. Cut the vinyl just below the pass and then move the pass up to it's original position, 6 cm from the top of the vinyl.
Now fold the bottom of the vinyl up over the pass and hold, then fold the top of the vinyl down over the pass and let it overlap the bottom of the vinyl. Pin in place.
Don't worry if your pass is facing the wrong way at this point, you can take it out and flip it around in a minute.
Now sew up either side of the vinyl, removing the pins as you go.
The passes I get are all the same size, so I stitched the pass in pretty tightly, if your ones vary, feel free to leave some allowance at either side.
Trim off any lose threads and trim cut off the extra vinyl at the sides so that your cover is nice and neat.
Install an eyelet at the top, in the middle, of your cover and slip a key ring through.
You can now attach your this to a lanyard or a clip on your bag.
Next time you get a pass, slip it in to your cover.
Now go enjoy yourself, safe in the knowledge your pass is all protected.
(This was the first photo I took, notice the guy in front getting showered with beer? I didn't have to worry about my pass... my camera on the other-hand... that's another project altogether though!)

awesome! great for my future photo press passes! haha. and, about the camera protector idea....you should definantly think of something for that! i've been trying to, but i can't come up with anything. again, great tute! :)
