I'm new here, and I was looking around at all the awesome crafts. I came across these hair sticks made out of chopsticks, and (seeing as how I seem to have an abnormal abundance of chopsticks in my possession) I decided I wanted to make my own pair. =]

I made these here out of a normal pair of chopsticks (round, not square) which I got for free from my favorite Chinese food restaurant at the mall. I put the ends through a pencil sharpener, then I painted them black with regular paint, then over again with cheap, black nail polish (the N.Y.C. $0.99 stuff). After that I hot-glued on the red ribbon, then went over it with the black ribbon, and put some more ribbon on the very ends (varied lengths). The little dangle-y things I made out of some beads and little silver charms I had at my house in my craft box. I just sewed these to the ribbon, and voila! Awesomely awesome hair sticks! I was very excited. I wore them all day and got complements. I happened to be spending the day with my boyfriend and he tried to buy me a kimono. XD

This project took me about 4 hours (painting, letting the paint dry, repainting, hot-gluing, sewing, deciding what shiny things to sew onto it...) but all in all I had a lot of fun. I might make a few more pairs. ;D
