canvas print no awkward painting

i love my brothers cheeky face in this shot, so thought i needed it on canvas. especially as i had learnt a groovy new technique that week of transferring a picture from the print almost straight to canvas, no messing.

if there are a few replies of how to do this i can put a tutorial up...but until then....

Instructions

  1. Step 1 1

    find a photo you want...
    i chose this one
    <-------
    anyone know who it is?

  2. Step 2 2

then alter you image by removing the background to it.
you can do this through microsoft word. its a bit tricky but persevere and you can do it.

  3. Step 3 3

if your picture isnt black and white change it on the computer. it will work alot better this way and is easier to see where you picture is.

  4. Step 4 4

now youre ready for the fun stuff. get acrylic paint and a canvas board with your picture. cut out your picture close to the edges. theres less work later if you do this.

  5. Step 5 5

paint generously onto the canvas and place your picture face down whilst the paint is still wet. make sure it is completly flat. if there are some bubbles push them down.

  6. Step 6 6

wait for the paint to dry. buy some chocolate.

(i do not endorse these chocolate bars, any chocolate bars you recognise is purely coincidental)

  7. Step 7 7

eat the chocolate. you can get a hairdryer to speed up the drying.

  8. Step 8 8

get a spray bottle and fill it with water. spray over the paper but not too much.

  9. Step 9 9

should look something like this with two squirts.
    <------------

  10. Step 10 10

gently start rubbing over the paper with a finger and the first layer of paper should start to come off.

  11. Step 11 11

    should look something like this.
    <---------

  12. Step 12 12

then do the same again, but remember to do it lightly or the ink smudges. you can keep going until there are no white bits left. you can also use a touch more water if it gets too difficult....the more water you use the more likely the ink will smudge.

  13. Step 13 13

this is still in progress. here ive used the same technique but those are words instead of pictures....

  14. Step 14 14

remember things look backwards when they are transferred. :)
