My inspiration was from a conversation I had with my boyfriend about those cute little candy hearts that show up around Valentine's Day. We agreed that they are adorable, but taste terrible, so I made him this cute plushie for V-day. Shhh! Don't tell him! :)

Grab your 8x10" sheet of felt. Try to find one that matches the colors in a box of candy hearts, but any color will do (I used blue because it is my boyfriend's favorite color). Take the end of your felt sheet and cut two 1.5inch wide strips off the end. Use the rest of the felt sheet to cut out two heart shapes from the image on this step.
Lay the two strips of felt on top of each other and line them up. Then stitch them together along one of the short ends using embroidery floss that closely matches the color of the felt.
Open up the strips where you sewed them together. Pretend it's some sort of crudely drawn seagull. Whee!
The dip in between will form the top point of the heart. Line it up with one of the heart shapes at the top point (make sure the stitches are underneath the point). Use the blanket stitch to sew from the top point around one side to the bottom point.
Do the same for the other side of the heart starting from the top again. You will notice the strips are a bit longer than needed. This makes it a little easier to fill later.
Now flip it over and sew the second heart shape to the other side just as you did in step 3.
You should be left with just the space between the 2 bottom points of the heart open. Fill the plushie with stuffing of your choice. You don't want to pack it tight though, just enough to give it shape. Then trim the ends of the strips and blanket stitch it closed. If you just want a plain heart, you can stop here. Yay!
If you want to add a little love note just like the candy, let's continue.
Mix your red acrylic paint with a little water to thin it out a bit (I used a slightly dark maroon-ish red). Use the watered down paint to write your love note.
I chose to do it this way because it looks more like the sloppily stamped candies, but if you want neater lettering (and have some embroidery skills...unlike me) you can use red floss for the message. And that's it!
