Candy Box Belt

  • Completed Project: Candy Box Belt Picture #1

A fashion belt made from candy boxes.

I helped out with the costumes for the Jr. High production of Willy Wonka Jr. at my school. I was too old to audition since I was a freshman in high school, but after a girl dropped out of the play, I had to step in and play the part of Augustus Gloop's mother. It was an extremely fun role. I got to sing a song and everything, all in a German accent. :D
Anyways, these Dots and Junior Mints belts were part of the costumes for some of the chorus girls.

  1. Step 1

First you need to empty the candy out of the boxes. Glue the boxes shut again with the hot glue gun.

  2. Step 2

Thread the giant needle with the string and poke holes through the boxes. Poke holes in the bottom right corner. Once you have threaded as many boxes as you will need to fit around you, poke the holes through the opposite corner. Now you have two strings running through the boxes. Tie them off. If you've done it correctly, the chain of boxes will easily sort of bend to form a circle. Attach the Velcro, and you're done.

Great idea for Willy Wonka! You could even leave the boxes unglued on one side and make it into a utility belt!
