roar, i'm dressed as candy!
So my dog has this vampire costume...but hes so fat he barely fits into it :P he can move and all, but he looks very very VERY uncomfortable. Its not because he has something on, in winter he wears a sweater very happily. ofcourse we have to wash it once a week, but he wears it very happily.
i'm being the kandy korn witch for halloween, so i thought, hey, why don't i make my dog a candy corn costume. unfortunatly, i dont have orange yellow or white yarn or fabric, and its 10:59 in the morning, so the craft store isnt open yet...i dont think. OH WELL!
lets get to it!Posted by JJ S. from US • Published October 9, 2011 • See JJ S.'s 5 projects »
So First off, here's what you're gonna need.
**THICK black foam
*ribbon/fabric (to tie around pets head)
*dog or cat or whatever animal you have that is willing to wear a hat :)
**GLUE haha forgot to add that :)
SORRY!! the pictures are reeeally bad im sorry! i think im getting a camera soon, but for now i'm using my phone :(
make a candy corn shape that you think looks right on your pets head. (not too big, not too small)
my dog is maybe small to med. size...zoom in on the picture if you want the measurements, theyre there! :)
trace the candy corn shape onto the THICK black foam.
**i ended up tracing it twice because my dog hates hats...we jsut found that out. if you trace it twice, the hat is more durable and blah blah blah blah
so now youre gonna make the lines on the candy corn that seperate the white from the yellow and the yellow to the orange.
i made them on the paper first, then i traced them onto the thick black foam.
i did this with a regular ball-point pen, nothing speical.
now, i made another paper template with the lines, but this time i cut it out so i could trace the shaped onto the other foam :)
so now you trace the shapes onto the foam.
orange on the bottom, yellow in the middle, white on the top.
i almost forgot that haha :)
***MAKE TWO OF EACH SHAPE!!!***
one for the back and one for the front!!!
so now you cut out the foam shapes.
now pull that black foam back out. like i said i made two because then the hat will be more durable because my dog hates things on his head, blah blah blah :)
so now pull that out
dunno why i fealt to make this a step lol :)
now put the colored foam onto the black foam. do any last sizing and such now :)
now glue on the colored foam. you can see the white glue poking out on mine :P
now wait fort that to dry...
no pic for this, sorry :(
while your glue is dryng, you can go ahead and wrap the ribbon around your pet's head so it can tie and have about an inch of extra. :)
um i dont have a picture for this either, sorry! :(
but once the glue is dry, you glue the two backs together. sandwich the ribbon in between the two.
when that all drys, tie it around your pet's head. mine lies flat on my dog's head, but, depending on where you put the ribbon, it can stand up! :)
