Bottlecap Hairclip

  • Completed Project: Bottlecap Hairclip Picture #1

A fun, funky little hairclip.

I was in a hairclip-making mood this weekend, and I just randomly started making these and thought they were cute.

  1. Step 1

    Step 1

Take a bottlecap and punch two holes in it with the hammer and screwdriver.

  2. Step 2

    Step 2

The holes don't have to be perfect. You'll cover them later with decorations.

  3. Step 3

    Step 3

Using the needle and thread, attach the bottlecap to the hairclip.

  4. Step 4

    Step 4

Turn it over and use the glue gun to attach the bottlecap to the clip a little better. It will just give it some extra safety so it will be more sturdy and not break as easily.

  5. Step 5

    Step 5

Add your decorations on the inside. You can decoupage it with Mod Podge and cute sequins and glitter and bits from magazines if you'd like, or you can hot-glue tiny pieces of felt in there, like I did.

I absolutely adore this! When I first looked at it, I thought it was melted somethings (plastic bits?) or those Tiny Chiclets I got when I was a kid! Yummy!

I thought they were melted plastic bits too, which made me wonder, could you put pony beads in bottlecaps in the oven to melt them like in Cat's barbed wire heart necklace? and then press sparkly stuff into them?

You could also flatten the bottle caps and glue stuff in the middle to make little flowers...
or what if you did little miniature scenes in the bottle caps and covered them with clear acrylic or something...

Thats really cool I might adapt it to make a necklace or something. Now I just have to find some of that hodge podge stuff people are always talking about.
