Something special for your special pillow.
A pillow case for your body pillow!

I made a custom pillow case for my body pillow/bolster pillow. I'm not exactly sure where I can get cases for this kind of pillow so I decided to make one on my own instead.

Take note that the measurements I used here are of my pillow's. Lots of math work involved here!

  • Step 1

    First! Measure the following:

    1. The length of your pillow. (L)
    2. The circumference of your pillow. (C)
    3. The diameter of your pillow. (D)

    Step 2

I used four different kinds of scrap fabric here for a patchwork effect.

You can also use new fabric here as well.

    CUT:
    x 6 pcs of fabric A measuring 4.5" x 10" (or C ÷ 6 )
x 6 pcs of fabric B with the same dimensions of fabric A

Placed side by side, 6 rectangular cutouts should all be equal to the circumference of your pillow.

    CUT:

Two strips of fabric C measuring 2"by the circumference of your pillow.

    CUT!

A large rectangular piece measuring around 24" by 40-42"

    OR

    Circumference BY (24 - Length)

    Finally, cut:

One circle piece with the diameter of your pillow.

To check if your circle will fit right, calculate for its circumference(diameter x 3.14), it should be more or less be the same as the your measurement of your pillow.

Don't worry if it's a bit off. The extra inches will serve as seam allowance later on.

  • Step 6

Pin together six rectangular pieces, printed side facing printed side. Length beside length. (fabric A and fabric B alternately)

Together it will have this accordion fold look.

    Sew the pieces together.

Repeat this step with the rest of your rectangular pieces.

  • Step 7

After you've finished sewing your upper and lower panels, you should have a large triangle about 10 inches high and 24 inches long (or 10 inches high and your pillow's circumference long)

Next, sew one panel to your long fabric C strips.

Do the same with the other two pieces.

Now you have two bigger panels!

Get your giant rectangular piece and sew on the top and bottom the two panels you have.

    It should look like this.

  • Step 9

You now have a really big piece of fabric.

Fold that in half widthways (print side together) and sew the ends.

  • Step 10

Get your circle piece and pin it to one end your giant fabric tube thing.

The printed side of the circle piece should be facing the inside of the circle.

    Sew the two pieces together.

  • Step 11

On the other end, fold half an inch and sew.

This is the seam of your pillow case.

  • Step 12

Turn your new pillow case inside out.

TA-DAH! A new and special pillow case for your bolster/body pillow.
