Board Game

  • Completed Project: Board Game Picture #1

Games are fun, so make one!

So, I had to make a game for one of my classes, and I thought I'd share it with everyone. If you get real creative, you can make all kinds of games! You can use just about anything, so get creative!!

I recommend you choose to do this over a couple days, since it can be a bit time consuming. It really requires a creative mind. So think of something you'd really like to make a game about!

  1. Step 1

    Step 1

So, I started out with a piece of poster board, and cut it into a square, keep the left over, it could be useful.

Then, I took a piece of paper and cut it into approximately 1 inch wide strips. If you can get creative enough, you can come up with a lot of ideas. I took measurements from Monopoly.

  2. Step 2

    Step 2

Then I added on a game title and a draw and discard pile.

  3. Step 3

    Step 3

Then, I laminated the entire board with something called CONTACT paper, which is clear, and can be found by the shelfing decorative paper, it's sticky. Be careful, because it can cause bubbles, just like laminate. The nice thing about it is that it's large enough to cover a large amount of space. Then I folded the game in half to store, you could store it in a variety of ways, so be creative!

Also, folding it can cause bubbles, so expect it to happen.

  4. Step 4

    Step 4

I then took the leftover poster board, and an additional piece of poster board and cut up playing cards, once again using monopoly's measurements. I also had printed out the questions on the computer and glued them onto the cards.

Use any amount of cards you wish...or, you could buy dice for like 95 cents at walmart and make it a dice game only!

  5. Step 5

    Step 5

It's hard to see in this image, but I then laminated each card with CONTACT paper on the side that I glued the questions on. I chose to only do one side, because it was getting a bit tedious having to laminate each card and cut the leftover off. As you laminate one side of the cards, they might start to make a shape of their own, this is okay..they won't bend or anything.

This was done to keep the questions from falling off and to keep the cards in good condition for future use.

  6. Step 6

    Step 6

Then my boyfriend thought it would be a really cool idea to use dowel rod in my game and make my pieces so they could roll. So, we got one piece of dowel rod from walmart for real cheap and glued some beads on them.

  7. Step 7

    Step 7

Then ta-da! You have your game and you can try it out!

  8. Step 8

    Step 8

Then, you can pick any type of packaging you would like. For me, I chose to put my game in a mailing envelope and used an old box from a bunch of number 2 pencils I bought for my cards and game pieces. This was the cheapest way to store it.

I teach high school and I have done virtual games (you know...jeopardy powerpoint and such), but I like the idea of having an actual physical game board. Awesome project!
