An easy autumn-themed craft for children to make for the nature table. It can be easily adapted to other themes.

Step 1Gather supplies. Birch bark should be collected from the ground or firewood, not from a living tree. Thicker pieces of bark are needed.

Step 2Cut out desired leaf shapes from the birch bark. Depending on the thickness of the bark, you may be able to separate one cut into multiple leaves. Be careful to not separate them too thinly.

Step 3With the moistened watercolour pencils, colour the leaves in as desired.

Step 4The edges of the leaves can also be embroidered.

Step 5And if desired, the whole thing can be turned into a garland.
