My old bikini was degrading (no pun intended) so I needed one quick
it started off as a no sew project, until I dived in the pool... I then sewed the front together lol ;)
This is a how to but like I say it was originally a bodge job

  • How to make a bikini. Bikini From A T Shirt - Step 1
    Step 1

Cut the t shirt in half so the front and back are sepparate, then cut out ovals for leg holes to make a pants shape. As a bodger I sort of tried it on a few times before I settled on a particular shape, be sure to leave more room at the back than the front for your bon bon. If I'd have been cleverer I'd have pinned an old bikini to it as a guide.... hindsight eh?

    Step 2

Cut the straps into strips, pull the strips to stretch them, I cut mine into 9 to create 3 plats.
Tie these together and you're bottoms are done.

    Step 3

Cut out triangles with long strips at the top. leave the seams at the bottom sewn up.

    Step 4

Cut the left over centre into 6 thin strips, pull them to stretch them as far as they will, then make 2 plats.

    Step 5

cut the straps of the top into strips, stretch and plat

    Step 6

Thread the 2 plats through the bottom seams and tie them at the front, I left tassles, but that's optional. Try on and see where you need to tie a knot on the strap to sinch it.

  • Step 7

I hope this works out ok for you peeps, I made it ages ago and it was a full on noodle scratcher to remember how I did. As I said at the start I had to sew the front together after a rather embarassing dive

just a regular polo shirt, not a suit type shirt or a t shirt. polo shirts tend to be thicker than t shirts and have a bit of stretch to them so when you cut pull the strips you cut for the straps they end up double length

it does a little but it tightens up again when dried or washed, stretches most when worn dry for more than 5 hrs, but now the front is stitched there hasn't been anymore embarassing moments
