Chain 25. Then single crochet in 3rd chain from hook. Single crochet till end of row. 23 stitches.

Connect both ends with a slip knot.

Oh and don't worry about bottom close it up later with a slip knot. :)

About 2/3rds of the way up the can is good, if you want to add a colored rim (like this one will have).

Attach next color, or begin to make your bottom, and single crochet around once
*you can do a half double crochet one stitch lower to get my affect*
Next you will need to stitch at the back loop on the inside all the way around once, this begins the bottom rim. Then begin decreasing evenly to close.

You'll get to the point where you can slip stitch it closed.

Attach color to the other end, every two half double crochet to the lower loop.
Slip stitch the net row an BLAMSKIN! you are done!
