3-D turtle made of beads
I would advise to a pack of plastic beads. If you are going to make a turtle magnet, definitely use plastic beads because the crystal/glass beads will weigh it down too much. I used the magnets that can be found on the bottom of some shower curtains.
On all of my postings no matter how many times I try to fix the supply lists, they always end up wrong, so I will post it here:
120cm of monofilament
31 tan beads 6mm
25 purple beads 6mm
2 black round beads 5mm
Optional: 1 headpin+1 purple bead or a magnet

I agree with you; the how-to picture is on the tricky side. It is easier to follow if you done some beadweaving projects. You will have to practice basic beadweaving first before you jump into making the turtle. http://beadjewelrymaking.com/ and http://mydailybead.blogspot.com/ are 2 sites that will help get you started.
