Just a little beading will do ya...

I recently found a bead making kit at a local dollar store, but it included no real instructions, so after experimenting with some techniques to figure out how to make a couple a rings, I got a little more experimental. Using my new assortment of 'memory wire' and seed beads, I experimented and came up with beaded slave bracelet. I made a water-inspired one using beads in blues and green. I made another in a fire theme using red, yellow, and orange beads.

Description

I recently found a bead making kit at a local dollar store, but it included no real instructions, so after experimenting with some techniques to figure out how to make a couple a rings, I got a little more experimental. Using my new assortment of 'memory wire' and seed beads, I experimented and came up with beaded slave bracelet. I made a water-inspired one using beads in blues and green. I made another in a fire theme using red, yellow, and orange beads.

Instructions

  1. Small sunp0068 1304869487

Measure one piece of light wire wire. Measure tentatively from central point around finger, down length of hands and around wrist with some length to spare for working. For me this was about 20-24 inches. (I used some called memory wire.)

  2. Small sunp0069 1304869501

Starting from central point, start beaded your ring. (I found it helps to mark the points like this with a sharpie on the wire. It doesn't show through once beaded.) Check and ensure as you go to ensure fit, it is better that it is a little loose, than too snug. Once sized secure give a couple tight twists (pliers help), with one or two larger seed beads. Lock in place by slipping wire down over, underneath, and up through.

  3. Small sunp0070 1304869547

Separate two strands of wire from central point. These strands will run down the length of the back of the hand. Bead each of the two strands of equal length, 'locking' each strands with a larger bead like before.

  4. Small sunp0071 1304869558

Twist the two bead strands from the ring together, twisting the wire once or twice tightly at the end of the beads.

  5. Small sunp0072 1304869583

Placing one or two larger beads down over the two wire strands, and 'locking' them into place like before. Secure.

  6. Small sunp0073 1304869606

Separate the two strands again, now that the beads from the twist are secure. These two strands will make the bracelet. Start beading so that they are the same length or similar.

  7. Small sunp0074 1304869615

end each wrist strand with a slightly larger bead 'locked' in place. Give a steady twist or so, then attach closures on each end.

  8. Small sunp0078 1304869631

You can use a short piece of jewelry making chain on one side of the closure to add length or to make adjustable.

    Wear. Enjoy. Share.
