These were created when i saw 'softie' on cut out and keep, my friends birthday was coming up and i asked her her favorite colours and animal, and i made these!! unfortununately i couldnt bear to give the first two i made away, so i made the red one for her, then i decided to make a how to!

  1. Step 1

    Step 1

cut out a simple design for your softie, the simpler the better, I chose a bat :)

  2. Step 2

    Step 2

Choose your felt, and draw around the paper pattern onto the chosen material, my paper patteren is a bit scuzzed up because i had used it three times before i made this tutorial :)

  3. Step 3

    Step 3

    Like this :)
    <-----

  4. Step 4

    Step 4

do it again on to the same piece, or onto a different colour if you want your front and back to be different colours

  5. Step 5

    Step 5

    Now, Cut 'em out :)

  6. Step 6

    Step 6

When you have them both cut out, you may still have some pen on the peices, place the bats back to back with the sides that have pen on together, if they dont quite fit together, just trim the edges a bit.

  7. Step 7

    Step 7

Decide which one you want to be your front, and which to be the back. Choose some buttons for the eyes.

  8. Step 8

    Step 8

choose your embroidery thread, It needs to be about 2 and a half times the perimeter of your design, and sew the buttons on. also embroider a mouth. it can be a smile, a shocked mouth, a pout, a cross, whatever really. you dont even have to do one if you'd prefer not to

  9. Step 9

    Step 9

Begin simply blanket stitching from the top of the right hand ear, almost all the way around

  10. Step 10

Now, from here onwards, im afraid i got a little carried away and finished the project before realising that i hadnt taken the photos, so they are just cartoons from here onwards...

  11. Step 11

    Step 11

Sew all around leaving just the part between the ears open.

  12. Step 12

    Step 12

    OPTIONAL STEP!
if you would like to fill yours with lavender, i suggest you stuff the wings with cotton wool first cos its really difficult to fill the wings. also roll a peice of cotton wool betwen your hands and line the bottom of your bat with this so that the lavender is more secure.

  13. Step 13

    Step 13

STILL OPTIONAL STEP fill the rest with dried lavender buds, and roll another peice of cotton wool to line the top with.

  14. Step 14

or you can just completely fill it with cotton wool... if you like

  15. Step 15

    Step 15

sew up the top gap, tie a knot and your done!!

  16. Step 16

    Step 16

    now, SHOW IT OFF!!!!
