Blind as a Barn Bat
Barn Bat sleeps all day in the barn, folded up snugly in her wings. She likes to hide in the shadows when the sun is out, but loves to fly around the neighbourhood at night. Use pink felt for her ears and wing tips.

  • Step 1

    Head?
    Make a loop with the tail end of the yarn on the right, keeping the ball end on the left.
    Pull the ball end through the loop. Make one ch through the loop on the hook you have drawn through to steady the circle. Dc 6 into the circle and complete with ss into the first dc.
    1st round: 2 dc into each of 6 dc. (12 st)
    2nd round: *1 dc. 2 dc into next dc. *6 times (18 st)
    3rd round: *1 dc into each of next 2 dc, 2 dc into next dc. *6 times (24 st)
    4th round: *1 dc into each of next 3 dc, 2 dc into next dc. *6 times (30 st)
    5th round: *1 dc into each of next 4 dc, 2 dc into next dc. *6 times (36 st)
    6th round: *1 dc into each of next 5 dc, 2 dc into next dc. *6 times (42 st)
    7th-10th round: 1 dc into every dc.
    11th round: *1 dc into each of next 5 dc, skip 1, 1 dc. *6 times (36 st)
    12th round: *1 dc into each of next 4 dc, skip 1, 1 dc. *6 times (30 st)
    13th round: *1 dc into each of next 3 dc, skip 1, 1 dc. *6 times (24 st)
    14th round: *1 dc into each of next 2 dc, skip 1, 1 dc. *6 times (18 st)
    15th round: *1 dc, skip 1, 1 dc. *6 times (12 st)

    Fasten off.

    Body

  • Step 3

    Making Up
    ?Sew the head and body together as shown in the photograph.
    Cut out the wings from brown felt.
    Cut out the ears, nose and hands from light pink felt.
    Attach all the features as shown in the photograph.
    Don’t forget to attach the eyes and embroider his mouth with pink embroidery thread.
