The towelling fabric makes this little baby look like he's swaddled up snug after his bath....HOORAY for the smell of freshly-bathed babies :D
Make a template from paper, then cut twice from the face cloth.
Embroider the features on to the felt face and attach to the front piece of your doll, adding a little stuffing to pad it out.
Embellish the body with buttons & bows.
Sew right sides together, leaving a space at the top for turning through & stuffing. Stuff. Stitch either end of hanging ribbon to the open edges then finish off top. An extra bow here gives added cuteness AND hides any wonky stitches ( *I* of course, didn't have any of THOSE).
Thread your bead dangler and attach to the tip for your dottee doll tail, and you're done!!
You could make this as a baby toy, but omit the beaded tail, hanging ribbon, buttons etc. Of course, it wouldn't be a dotee doll then, it'd be a baby toy. Or a slug. But it would be cute and you could embroider on fake buttons etc, or even the baby's name.
