  • How to make an embellished tote. Babies Suck! - Step 1
    Step 1

First make a tote bag. You can look at my tut for make a t-shirt in to a cute tote. I used an old pillowcase for this one. The cross-stitch came from the book "Subversive Cross Stitch" I'm sure you can buy it off their site too.

    Step 2

I made her bath soap by adding tangerine tea to melt and pour soap. ( She likes citris smells and I think the tea adds a nice homey touch.)

    Step 3

I made the bath salt by adding the tea to a cup full of epsolm salt and a teaspoon of olive oil. I also re-used babyfood jars for the containers.

    Step 4

This is once again the melt and pour soap but I added cocoa butter from the little tubes you can buy at a Pharmacy. I also added come chocolate milk powder to make it smell a little sweeter and give it some color.

    Step 5

For the face soap I added some citris essential oil. (Which I also added to the tangerine tea ones.) I also added sugar which helps it lather up more, and some poppy seeds to scrub away the dead skin.

    Step 6

This was just your regular lotion with no dyes or fragrance and I added a few drops of the citris essential oil.

    Step 7

Put all your goodies in the bag. I added some shredded paper on top. Yellow and orange her fave colors. And tied with a ribbon which says who its from.

I've made this stitch before, but never thought of making it into a tote.

lol I love this. I like subversive cross stitch. I'm looking for inspiration to spice up my plain cotton tote. Now thinking I may go with a slogan. Thanks! xx

I wouldn't want to say that. Even tho it means it in a different way. But still.

I think if any "normal" run of the mill mom saw this, she's probably be offended.... however... I saw this, jaw dropped and I started laughing, my son stared at me like I was nuts. lol. I love it!
