Create the perfect Bakewell Pudding!
Having lived in Bakewell for 19 years, I know our wonderful pudding very well, but i realise many of you wont. So what is a Bakewell pudding and why is it different to the so called 'tart'?
A pudding is puff pastry, with a layer of strawberry jam and an egg and ground almond filling, whereas, the tart is sponge based wrapped in a shortcrust pastry case with jam and flavoured with almonds. Two very different things, only one of which is the original.
This recipe is taken from the Old Original Bakewell Pudding shop itself!
