Arm Warmers From A T Shirt

  • Completed Project: Arm Warmers From A T Shirt Picture #1

Fingerless Gloves made from recycled T-Shirt

I finally got around to cutting up an old t-shirt I bought at Goodwill. I was going to use it when I went in the Darkroom so I could get chemicals on it instead of on a good shirt. Never happened. Instead, I found Caro's T-Sexy shirt (http://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/cut_tshirt).

The sleeves came off, too, and I ended up cutting out the shoulder seam to lace up the shoulders, too.

But then I had two t-shirt sleeves laying around and a shirt that needed some accessories. Thus were the Arm Warmers born!

  1. Step 1

    Step 1

Lay out your sleeve with the seam on one side and the rest with the other. We aren't using the side with the seam (I'm going to try and figure out something to do with that later).

  2. Step 2

    Step 2

Cut off the hem. I don't like the way it rolls if you take away the whole thing, so I cut off half.

  3. Step 3

    Step 3

Slip the sleeve around your hand with the seam on the bottom. Make a 4 with your hand, and pin the tube together. Make sure it's snug.

Steps 3 and 4 are the ones that take longest for me.

  4. Step 4

    Step 4

Repeat as many times more as needed so that the tube fits very well on your arm. If it's too loose, it's going to fall down a lot.

Steps 3 and 4 are the ones that take longest for me.

  5. Step 5

    Step 5

Cut on the inside of the safety pins. If you cut on the outside, lacing them is going to be a challenge.

  6. Step 6

    Step 6

Cut small holes along the outside edges of the not-tube.

  7. Step 7

    Step 7

    Lace them up!

  8. Step 8

    Step 8

Last step. Slip the tube on and figure out where your thumb wants to go. Mark it and cut a slit for your thumb. Adjust the laces to fit your arm, and viola! Arm warmer!

    Rinse and repeat for another.
