  • How to make a stool. A Stool Out Of Skis - Step 1
    Step 1

If the stool is painted in a color that you don’t like, use sandpaper to get some or all paint off it. You might want to re-paint it in another color. I sandpapered off some of the paint on my stool, so that old layers of paint is shining through in places.

    Step 2

Measure the depth of the stool seat, and saw the tips of the skis off so that they can cover the seat. If the bendy part of the tips stick out a bit in the back of the stool - even better. On the front of the stool, the best thing is if the sawed of edges of the ski tips is in a straight line with the front edge of the stool seat.
Measure where the screws should be going through the skis (2 screws on each ski) and mark the places with a pen. Make a small dent with a nail or something else that is pointy and sharp - that way the drill won’t slip. Drill holes through the skis and then place the skis where you want them to go on the stool seat. Stick the pen or a nail through the drilled hole and mark where you should drill on the stool seat. Remove the skis and drill holes where you marked.

Now it’s time to assemble your stool. Place the ski tips, one at the time, and screw the screws into each hole, using the screwdriver. Make sure the screws don’t stick up from the skis.
If you want to, you can use some lacquer on the sawed of edges of the skis - I used organic furniture oil. Otherwise, you’re done! Congrats on having an awesome piece of furniture in your home!
