The Cut Out + Keep Handbook is here to guide you through all the things you can do on the site. Whether you're having trouble, want to pick up some tips and tricks, or just want to perfect your techniques; then you should be able to find everything you need below. If there's something we haven't covered - just give us a shout!

To become an active member on Cut Out + Keep, you need to get started by clicking the Sign Up button in the black user bar.

From here you will be taken to a page where you will be asked to enter your Email Address, First Name, Last Name (this wont be displayed, but will allow people who know you to find your profile via the friend search), and your Date Of Birth. You will also be asked to choose a Password which you will be able to use when logging in to the site.
You will be sent an email shortly after signing up, click the Activation Link in this email to verify your email address and fully activate your account.
Shortly after signing up to Cut Out + Keep you will receive a Friend Request and welcoming Message from Crafterella, Cut Out + Keep's crafty little helper superhero.
You don't need to accept her request, but she's there if you ever have problems with the site, find something tricky or have any questions. Feel free to message her at any time and she'll get back to you as soon as possible.
When you first sign up, your profile will be blank, so here's how-to add all of your information and make your profile more exciting.

Click on Profile in the user bar to edit your profile, click the
button to see how your profile will appear to everyone else.
Your display name is what you'll be known as on the site. It will be automatically set to your First Name + the first initial of your Surname as default, for example Crafty Claus will appear as Crafty C.
How to change your Display Name:
Your full name is hidden, but this can be used by people who know you to find your profile via the friend search.
Your tagline is a short bit of text that can be used to display anything from your mood to your favorite quote. Be creative with it, but try and keep it short. Your tagline will appear below your display name on your profile, it's blank by default and wont appear until you type something in.
How to change your Tagline:
Adding your location let's everyone know where you're based and can help potential friends from your area find your profile. It helps to be as specific as possible with this, for example New York, USA works better than just NY.
How to add or change your Location:
You can add links to all of your websites, other profiles, shops and blogs on your profile.
How to add a Website:

Your profile photo will appear on your profile and all the comments, posts, projects etc. that you make.
How to upload your Profile Photo:
You can use repeat this process to change your photo at any time.
The about section on your profile is there for you to write a little, or a big, biography about yourself.

How to add / edit your about section:
If you see a project that you like, you can add it to your Favorites. This will save it to your Favorties Page which help you keep track of it, while giving it’s creator a nice little pat on the back.

To add a project to your favorite, click the
button on that project’s page.


It will then appear on your favorites page with all the other projects your other favorite projects. You will also appear on that project’s page as one of the people who love the project.

Writing a tagline for your project is one of the must-do's. This should be a short sentence or tagline that sums up your project, keep it short and snappy. To add a tagline, type it in to the Tagline Box.
Below the Tagline Box, is another box for adding a summary or notes to your project. You don't have to type anything in here, but you can use it to give an introduction or a bit of background to your project.

The You Will Need section is where you add all the materials, ingredients and tools needed to make your project.

You should select the Project Budget based upon the cost of all the materials required to make it. Use the pull down list to select the one that best suits your project.

You should set the Time based upon how long it took you to complete the project. It's best to set this based upon actual preparation time, rather than waiting time. For example, a cake might take an hour to bake but only 20 minutes to prepare, so set the time to 20 minutes. Use the up and down hours within the units to set the hours, 10 minutes and minutes.

You should set the Difficulty based upon how much skill is required to complete the project and how tricky it was to make. Use the left and right arrows to select a difficulty that best fits your project.
The steps are where you add your tutorial, recipe or pattern.
Add a step by typing your instruction in to the step box. Take a new step for each instruction.
To add a new step, click the
button.
To delete a step, click the
button.
To reorder your steps, drag the
button up or down, in to the position you want it.
How to add a step image: If you need want to remove an image from a step, click on
.
You can save your project at any time by clicking the Save button.
If you want to see how your project is looking, you can view it at any time by clicking the Preview button.
Please note: you will not be able to preview your project until you have saved any new changes you have made, so click the Save button first!
When you have finished adding everything to your project and you're ready for it to appear on the main site, click the Publish button.
Make sure that you've added all the necessary information such as Tagline, Time, Difficulty and Needs. Shortly after you've published your project, someone will come along and make sure that it's okay before posting it on the website - so hang tight. If there are any problems with your project, you'll receive a message.
