Meet the Author

Hey there, can you introduce yourself?

Medium cindy ng

Hi Everyone! I'm Cindy Ng, author of Travel Origami and Girligami. I have been designing origami models for the past ten years. Not only do I enjoy creating origami models, I enjoy designing the patterns on papers so that when you follow the series of folds, the final result is surprising, fun and beautiful.
In my spare time, I enjoy swimming, martial arts and taking walks around the city.

Tell us a bit about the book?

There are 24 items you can fold in Travel Origami and you'll find a nice mix of models - some functional, modern, fashionable and most important for new origami enthusiasts - simple to make!

What was the inspiration behind it?

After Girligami, I need some creative inspiration and decided to take a trip to Istanbul and started folding items from money, tickets, travel brochures.

Which is your favourite project?

My favorite projects are all the rings I made with paper money

What is your craft space like?

I have many work stations and my studio is a huge mess when I have many projects going at once. Luckily, the tables fold up when I'm done with a project.

Have you always been creative?

No, I think creativity can be fostered and I think I became creative because I was innately curious about the world, people and how things work.

When did you first start crafting?

I've always been a crafter - probably because I saw how resourceful my mother was when we didn't have much. Instead of buying something, my mom would make it because it was more economical.

Who are your crafty heroes?

I know a lot of crafty people who aren't authors, but should be!

Where do you find inspiration?

I tend to ask a lot of questions, including dumb ones. There's usually a story to nearly anything and I learned that if I'm curious enough to inquire, I tend to learn something new.

What's next for you?

I'm currently studying Chinese Medicine because it's a field I find fascinating and magical.
