Hey there, can you introduce yourself?

Medium meredith headshot

Hello everyone! My name is Meredith aka One Sheepish Girl! I started blogging about my knit and crochet creations a little over four years ago and it has completely changed my life. I also have a day job and work in social media and communications.

Tell us a bit about the book?

Crochet with One Sheepish girl includes colorful and fun projects perfect for wearing, living, and giving. The accessories and home decor projects are perfect for beginners and experts alike!

What was the inspiration behind it?

This is the book I was looking for when I started learning to crochet. I wanted to create projects that are accessible to beginners but still challenge the way the craft is viewed. The patterns are quirky, colorful, and perfect for decorating an apartment, giving as a gift, or wearing out on a crisp autumn day.

Which is your favourite project?

One of my favorite projects is the heart pocket apron. It is such a classic silhouette and features a beautiful texture that is surprisingly easy to stitch. It was inspired by a similar apron with a heart pocket worn by Lucille Ball on I Love Lucy!

What is your craft space like?

Mollie Makes magazine recently featured my workspace in their Tea & Chat feature. http://onesheepishgirl.com/2014/10/mollie-makes-apartment-tour.html My space is small but I like to keep it colorful and bright. I try my hardest to organize my yarn stash...but it always takes over the whole space. Haha. It's a never-ending battle!

Have you always been creative?

Before I learned to knit to crochet I always loved expressing myself creatively, through writing, drawing, or painting. My English and art classes were always my favorite when I was in school.

When did you first start crafting?

I'm pretty sure my first craft project was making something out of Play-Doh!

Who are your crafty heroes?

I am a huge fan of Tilly Walnes latest sewing book, Love at First Stitch, Oana Befort's beautiful illustrations, and everything Tiff Fussell creates.

Where do you find inspiration?

I am a huge fan of magazines. I love holding a publication in my hand and just pouring over the inspiring editorials, articles, and features. I also use Pinterest a lot to keep my inspiration organized! It is such a great tool.

What's next for you?

I am enjoying the launch of the book and finally taking a few (much needed) deep breaths after the long process of publishing the book. I have a lot of big dreams for the future, opening up an online shop and launching an online magazine. The future is exciting and I can't wait to see what happens!
