Dear Kim, welcome to the swapping board. First of all I suggest you join the Newbie vs Vet swap, Newbies aren't usually allowed to start or host a swap before having proved to be reliable swappers. Here's the thread: http://www.cutoutandkeep.net/board/swapping/swap_shop/6956-newbie-vs-vet-swap-new-round-3

A seed swap sounds interesting, although this is a craft forum/board and so we usually swap handcrafted items together with other items. Maybe with your Vet you could plan a "Spring swap", where you swap seeds and other items. If you're interested in swapping just seeds and nothing else, there are plenty of websites where you can do that - look for "seed swap" or "seed trade" on Google and you'll see plenty of options pop up.

Hope I've been useful ^___^

There was a seed swapping thread on the Eco/Green board for a while. It was probably a few years back. The only thing to watch for with swapping seeds is to check the country your sending tos customs regulations. I remember Australia being tight on things like seeds and I'm sure its not the only one.

EDIT - found the thread - http://www.cutoutandkeep.net/board/home/green/2691-the-ongoing-seed-swap - it was last posted on about 3 years ago so you may want to start a new one.

I will absolutely look into seed swapping. I've been collecting heirloom seeds and seed saving for a few years now... NOT the stuff you get at WalMart, lol.

I had no idea there was seed swapping out there until now. Thanks.

UK/US is also very tricky.

I'm happy to host a seed swap and Raven's Trove is less than 100 miles from me ! Let me know what you'd like included

I'll get on to it at the end of the week ( have project paper to write up by Friday ;) )

Wow, Essex Debs, thanks. I'm very interested. Us/UK would be difficult, so double thanks for taking it on!

Mum.... or at least my mum, has no seeds. I have hunted down Heritage Seeds online and through trusted friends for a few years now. Saving them properly and swapping through a trusted friend it very important. With seed swapping you never have to buy seeds again and they are usually tastier!!!!

It's super nice when someone else is willing to share their treasures and spread the joy!

That's so funny.Went to a special screening of a film last night and gave the "star" a woven basket with a tiny sage plant and cut and come again lettuce .I figured if she cared for the annual the perennial would thrive to be transplanted into her garden come the fall. Ginny Ruffner is an amazing artist and if you can do track down her "not so still life movie" it really inspiring.

My whole neighborhood is growing my lettuces as I was very successful in germinating them.

seeds are seeds, just seems pretty pointless to swap when you can buy them for change.

Heard you on that Papermoon. The goal is organic, self sustaining gardening. Heirloom seeds are often tastier and when you save the seed, you never have to buy cheap, low grade seeds again. It's a garden thing. There's also the variety. Much more than a typical store seed offering. It's worth it to me!

Yah, I have a garden myself; you can have a self sustaining garden with any type of seed it just depends on how you do or do not take care of it.
