DREADS

so basically i really want to dread my hair and plan on doing this summer with my friends help. im going to use a crochet needle to do it. my question is, where can i find quality products to put in it? that are also not too expensive. also, if anyone has tried this method, how much shorter would my hair be?

Do you mean like Wax and stuff? If you do, you should know that wax is NOT good for dreads. Your dreadlocks will stick together only because of the wax and will not be able to knot up properly. You do not need to use products! At all! Crochet hook is okay. The best shampoo I have ever used on my dreads is DILUTED Dr.Bronners Tea Tree Oil bar soap/ liquid soap.

Yeah, I have a good friend who had started her dreads twice, and both times, they were ruined by wax. After two years of growth, they just fell apart.I forgot you asked about length. You lose tons of length haha.

I usually buy dr.bronners at my health food store.

hahaha yeah thats why i was thinking of waiting a bit to start them so they end up at a length i like. so definitely stay away from using excessive amounts of products hahaha.
