Ditch Etsy for CraftCafe?

Okay, so, as a lot of you know I use Etsy currently to sell my soaps and stuff.
My usual bill to Etsy every month is about $3.00 and I tend to not get much business... or at least as much as I'd expect to get on Etsy.
I'm looking in to starting a shop on CraftCafe, but I don't know if the extra money per month is going to be worthwhile especially since soaps and stuff are a bit challenging to sell online.
For those of you who have started to use CC, what do you think of it? Is it a big change over Etsy? And is it a good change?

Well I like it so far, a step up for actual handmade items for sure. I've have a few sales since I opened which is good because I was only getting like 1 every 6 months on etsy. I've told you before what I think of etsy lol. I think they have some improving and adding on to, to do on CC but I like the direction it's going in. And I don't think paying the yearly fee is too bad, better than paying month to month. If you do decided to sign up, say I refered you and I'll get a few free advertsing coupons of something. My federal # is p514166p
Unless youve had someone ask you already. Happy

For now, I'm paying month-to-month until I make enough to get the yearly subscription. I just opened up my CC shop and I have to say I already like it more than Etsy, particularly how dynamic the shipping is!

The site looks really cute! It reminds me of Craft Gawker
I've been nervous about etsy because I feel like it's so overwhelmed by the amount of stuff that's there & there's so many similar products that they charge wayy too much for :Y

This looks more comfy though Happy

I agree. I've only made one sale on CC so far, but I feel better about paying $2.99 a month than paying all that in listing fees every month on Etsy, only to be charged more if I make a sale there. Plus the coupon system on CC is awesome!

Monika. What is your CC name? or link...? I would totally buy soap. I am one of those if you make a friend... support their craft..... sooo.... internet friend.... I shall find you and buy your soap on your preferred selling site. Plus I need more "places to go" when I get on the internet.

I closed my CC shop for now. Soap is just too hard to sell online since people can't smell it.
Right now everything is on Facebook, facebook.com/DiscordiasApple. Happy

I have to update my inventory this afternoon. I'm having a closing sale and someone just ordered one of every soap I have left, haha.

Awesome, I am going to check it out. I was selling on Etsy, but I stopped a while back due to lack of sales. I am thinking about starting again or just selling on Ebay, I usually do well on Ebay. I have not heard of CC, thanks for information about it.

I do like CC, especially more now that I have been struggling with Etsy to get an old account reopened!
I emailed Etsy 3 days ago now to try to have an account with my mail email address reopened--no response yet!

Meanwhile, I leave my CC shop to be dormant for quite some time, and I come back to work on a few new listings before reopening, and all my info is still there--my account wasn't closed. Etsy automatically closed my accounts and won't even let me back in!

I've noticed a lot of the items on Etsy arent exactly homemade or what I would consider vintage. The mark ups are ridiculous as well. I am sorry your Etsy shops arent going so well, but it does make me feel better that I am not the only one struggling to make any sales. Especially since I've been advertising like crazy with my blog and various other social media sites.

Yeah. I actually let my CC shop expire back in October. As nice as the site is, there just is not as much there to let people find your items. I started a new Etsy shop a while ago and it's doing much better than anything.

I think getting into social networking communities did the most for me. I joined a lot of groups that were really specific to my interests and posted links there. Some places don't like it but when you have lots of friends and good relationships in groups, it can be very beneficial to post links.
