A lined asymmetrical wrapped skirt would be lovely. There are directions for one on A Pair and A Spare. Good Luck!
Skirt Thick Fleece?
So my last message didn't post. I'll try again. The tie waist is a good idea. If you want to try something different, make belt loops for the waist and use a pretty scarf as a belt. Or if you want to use buttons as a closure, then line the waist with a gingham or muslin to give the waist more stability and it won't be too bulky. Try making the skirt as a six-gore (if the pattern will allow it).
Skirt Thick Fleece?
So I bought this amazing native American style printed fleece for 3.99 a yard at hancocks today. At first I'm thinking, oh blanket! but the more i see it the more I think it would make a great pattern for a skirt. The trouble is I've never seen thick fleece worn as an article of clothing before except on little kids. Do you guys have any pattern ideas that would work for a thick fleece to be worn without looking like it's to much. Also if I were to make a simple A line skirt do you guys have any recommendations for how to fasten it? Do you think a draw string would be sufficient? As I think it'd be impractical to but in a zipper and way to bulky for elastic. Thoughts? thanks in advance for your time/ opinions!

Why Do You Enjoy Sewing?
I love taking a piece of fabric and turning it into something awesome and beautiful. That is satisfying and it is pretty relaxing, especially with some music on.
Sewing Machine Question/Help
ok so my machine keeps doing this annoying thing where the thread spool or bobbin, maybe it is both, seem to slip....like jerk when I am sewing. The thread bunches in wads underneath the fabric but the top stitch is fine.
I think it is a tension issue, which I always have problems with the tension dial. I haven't figured out yet how to know what setting I should adjust it to for let's say a straight stitch vs a zig zag stitch.
Anywho! any help would be appreciated! it is driving me bonkers having to constantly rip out messed up stitches and re-thread and re-do everything to start over and it does it again.
Vintage dress patterns?
Brocade fabric
Hm... I was thinking a bustier would be good, too! I think I might make a pattern from the bodice of a dress I have and maybe convert it to a soft corset.
I saw corset style belts on amazon when I was looking at corsets so I might make something like that as well.
Brocade fabric
Ooo that's gorgeous. I'd like it for a bed throw or an upholstered head board but it would be pretty for clothes too. I think a bustier kinda corseted top would be pretty... I wouldn't worry about the print, I think it can be broken up without looking strange. You could even make a pendulum style top (which is super figure flattering) with a pleated bottom and add some black piping at the seam line and hem
(quick sketch for reference)
Your fabric got me excited for a project
Brocade fabric
I have just less than three yards of this really pretty black and silver brocade fabric, and I'm trying to figure out what to do with it.

I've had it for a while now and haven't yet committed to cutting it up yet. I was thinking about making an A-Line skirt or a corset sort of thing but I'm worried about how the patterns on the fabric would look. I'd really like to make some kind of garment out of it but it has to be something that will highlight the fabric's pattern and texture.
Any suggestions?
