trouble deciding where to categorise the projects

I think it would depend on their purpose. Like if it is a magnet, decoration, key ring, etc...
If I saw a project without a chosen catagory waiting to be published, that's how I would sort it out.

Howd u meet ur mate?

I met my hubby at a mutual friends party, I thought his friend was cute but he was trying to get my cousins attention, so he steered me towards James. We hung out all night until long after the party. He left with friends but came back almost immediately with some lame excuse that I later found out was made up so he could keep hanging out with me. We dated for about 6 mo the then broke up for a bit, because of something dumb and I was still in high school.
He joined the army and went to training and when he came back we started dating again, 4 months later we were engaged. We were both 19 :) and the about 9 months after that we got married, August 3rd 2007! We have moved all across the USA and are now out of the army and living in my hometown. He's going to school for his degree to teach history and I'm working until he is done with school and I can start lol. We completed our little family (for now) with our 2nd beautiful English Springer Spaniel this last January.
We've been through a lot in the last 5 ( now almost 6) years, he was deployed to Iraq, and almost called it quits, but went to counseling instead. I really feel like we are doing great together and love my little family :) I'm glad we've stuck it out and that he has become my best friend in the whole world.

Having problem with a crochet pattern...

what I've been reading on different sites is that you can use a regular hook for small things, like if you were making multiple squares then joining them, or a long scarf. But not for blankets, because of how much longer you need the hook to be. If you want to go ahead and give it a try anyway with a regular hook, here is a good idea for using a regular hook

otherwise I'd suggest just ordering one or finding one at walmart/joanns/etc. They aren't more than a few bucks.

Also have you been on Ravelry.com to look for a similar blanket pattern that uses a regular hook? Its an awesome site for just crochet/knitting patterns, and most of them are free.

Aww thanks Krista! I know how hard and crazy patterns can be to read especially when they aren't published patterns, but just ones someone made up and wrote them selves, lol. I have had to push my way through enough patterns now, that I can pretty much figure it out ^_^

Oooooookay- I think I figured it out. I had to actually pull our some yarn and try it out to see what they were talking about. Here is how it goes
SHE SAYS- [what I say will be in these brackets]
Head (make 1)
Round 1 In yellow,
ch 6, 1 sc in second stitch from hook, [Ch 6, work 1 SC in the 2nd Stitch from your hook]
3 sc, [work 1 SC in the NEXT 3 Stitches]
3 sc in last stitch from starting chain, [Work 3 SC in the last Stitch or your starting chain]
working along in the opposite side, [ You will now be working in a circle, so your next Stitch will worked into the unused site of the foundation chain]
3 sc, [ work 1 SC in the NEXT 3 stitches ]
2 sc in next st, [work 2 SC in the last unused stitch] [now you should have a little oval shape]
using the stitch marker to mark the first stitch of the next round [Place a stitch marker, such as a safety pin in the next stitch, the one that you would normally slip stitch into to close this round. But done slip stitch because you're just working in continuous rounds. Keep moving the stitch marker are you complete rounds]
---12 sts [before moving on to the next round, count backwards from your hook, you should only have 12 stitches]
I hope that helps, if not let me know and I can try and break it down further, or maybe take pictures. I think this pattern was written for people who are extremely proficient in reading patterns and working in the round :S

UPDATE on my 2 swaps-
I saw that Jen posted a teaser pic, but I haven't actually heard from her in a long time. I messaged her on march 9th when we were supposed to mail out but never got a reply. We haven't exchanged addresses though.
Also I haven't heard from Danielle M. either :S I sent her a massage on the 9th too, even though we weren't sending out until the march 16th.
I am ready to send out to both of them if I get a response, but of course I'll wait until I get their part of the swap 1st like the Vets usually do.

What do you colour your shrinkies with?

Yeah I used colored pencils :) If I'm making my own shrinky dinks from recycled plastic I make sure to rough it up on one side with some fine grit sandpaper, so that the color will stay in place on the plastic and show up really well.
