When you move, it's not just the move itself that costs tons of money... always remember to have enough money for living expenses for as long as 6 months after the move.

Always be prepared to make major changes and adjustments to your lifestyle and habits because it's bound to become a necessary thing with a move that big.

    Crayons lipstick

You shouldn't be using crayons for any sort of cosmetics. While the wax in them isn't toxic, the pigments in them could be irritating to skin.

I also don't recommend using Vaseline largely because it's a petroleum chemical that prevents skin from absorbing moisture. You could use natural oils like coconut and palm oils, since they are hard at room temperature but soften when they come in contact with warm skin. A wax that is safe to use on skin is beeswax, but it has to be mixed with some kind of natural oil, otherwise it's too hard to rub on skin.

I use Pyrex measuring glasses for all of the lip balms I make, since they allow me to make big batches and measure everything out the way I like it. The advantage to using Pyrex containers is that they're very durable (I've had mine for years and they're not even the least bit scratched) and you can use them in the microwave to heat/melt stuff.

If you want to make colored lipstick, you can get mineral eyeshadow and mix it with a clear gloss or balm, though mineral eyeshadows can be pricy. But, you don't want to use cheap eyeshadows because they can contain oxidized metals that can cause rashes and irritation.

They're usually nontoxic... but you really don't want to put melted wax like that on your lips. It would be akin to smearing a candle on your mouth.

Oh, I should add there's a restaurant in Omaha that has really yummy coffee and crepes. If we all meet up there some day, I want to recommend that place for lunch/dinner.

I think we're going to need a CO+K meetup in Omaha some day! It's the closest large city to where I go to school and it makes for a nice day-long city trip. :D

Oh, and wool coats are the best. Sometimes it gets cold enough here though that you need a wool coat with a leather coat on top. The leather will block out the wind so the wool can keep heat in better. That's usually only necessary when it's super windy though.
I just got a green wool jacket from Talbots that's super comfy... I'm going to be wearing it with a scarf and my Fargo Hat all winter :D

It is VERY warm. I can go outside when it's 60 below freezing and feel just fine with that hat on.

The winters are actually quite pleasant when you dress for them. A good pair of fur-lined waterproof boots, a warm coat, and warm hat will all go a long way. I have what my PA friends call the "Fargo" hat. Here's an old pic of it from a few years ago. I need to get a picture of the hat on its own.

It's a basic fuzzy hat that's really easy to make. I actually made tons of them last winter so if you need one I can mail one to you. lol

Most tornadoes that far north aren't very strong. We get tornadoes in my region and they rarely do more than blow off a few shingles and rustle the cornfields.

There are lots of neat stores. I went on a Sunday so not much was open, but there are all sorts of artsy shops. The art industry as a whole is huge there because there's the Bemis Center AND the Joslyn museum.

Lincoln is about an hour west of Omaha. I don't recommend going there. lol

But hey, Omaha is like a 2 and a half hour drive away from where I live in South Dakota, so if you move there, we can meet up for a day at the museum or something!

I have only been to Omaha for a museum trip. It isn't a bad place and there's a lot of good food to be had there. The Midwest as a whole is a really awesome region to live in. The only city I don't really like is Lincoln because the drivers are fast and dangerous and there's nothing to do there. Lol

Drive really early in the morning! If you drive after about 10am, you're going to hit a ton of traffic!

Huntington Beach is def. worth visiting. It's been about 4 years since I last went to CA, but Huntington Beach is one of my favorite spots.

Somewhere close to D.C. is the National Air & Space Museum... if you want to get up-close and personal with space probes, a space shuttle, and tons of military aircraft, commercial jets, and recreational planes, GO THERE! It's a ton of fun and they even have several simulators which are awesome as well.
