Scrabble Tile Pendants - Glaze Problems
Started about 2 years ago · Last post about 2 years ago ·
I use Glossy Accents (equivalent to Diamond Glaze) and I haven't had that problem. Making sure the pieces are on a flat surface will ensure that the layer of glaze will dry at a even level. Also try not using a brush if you painted it on, just apply it first around the edges of the tile then fill in. As far as the dust problem goes, don't see how that could have happened if they were covered unless it was dust in the container that they were covered with.
I have resin too, but haven't yet tried it on my domino/scrabble tiles. I just suggest to be more careful of the set up while they are drying.

Bendy Arms for plushies
Started over 2 years ago · Last post over 2 years ago ·
You can try some thick gauged wire that's not too hard to bend formed from arm to arm inside the plushie. I would think that you can stuff the body and arms first, push the wire through filling of the the upper body area where the arms go and then sew them on after pushing through the filling in the arms.
Hope you understand that.

New Here and Lost!!!!

Basically, not all creations here have a how-to. So like Ruby suggested, if there is something you want know how to make just ask the creator if they could post a how-to for it.

how do you do this

It would be kinda hard to do stitching on the leg by hand or machine, so my guess is they used the iron-on paper that you apply to the fabric. Once it's ironed on, puff paint was applied around the edges and probably used also for the writing and drawing on the one on the right.

Questions about Fimo and Sculpey clay!
Started over 2 years ago · Last post over 2 years ago ·
I have heard of it being boiled, but never done it myself. I also have mixed two different brands and had no problem baking using Sculpey's instructions because that's mostly what I use and I usually use wax paper or foil over a metal cookie sheet.
Under baking won't really be a problem because you can always put it back in the oven. And like Kira said, it will have a brownish tint to it if you over bake it, but to prevent that just cover it with foil when baking.

ATC Help
Started almost 3 years ago · Last post over 2 years ago ·
I do too Laurel, I have some cut in different sizes and ready for use in book covers, inchies, twinchies, ATCs of course, squash books, albums, and possibly skinnies which are about like ATCs but are 2 X 3 in size. So I'm trying to decide if I want to get into making those too along with the inchies and twinchies.
Haha! I have so many that I'm thinking of having a contest or something to give some away with other things to make ATCs; just trying to come up with a concept.

ATC Help

I've used mod podge on playing cards and it worked fine for me. The thing though with using it is that you have to use a really good coat because thin coats dry too fast therefore it won't stick and that's with anything, but sanding the surface does help a lot even when you don't have that kind of problem. I have used gesso too and didn't like the result of that because I didn't use the right kind of brush so I had brush strokes, and using a sponge applicator didn't work well either, at least not for me. Hm, when I ran out of playing cards making ATC's and didn't want to buy any just for that, even though they are pretty cheap, I now have stacks and stacks of bases that I have cut from different food boxes and they are really sturdy so I like them way better and hey, no problem with adhesives!

What is the difference?
Started almost 3 years ago · Last post almost 3 years ago ·
The difference between the two is that you have to bake polymer clay to cure it where as Playdough you just leave it out to air dry, but it tends to crack and will even more if its dried too fast. Polymer clay doesn't break or crack easily once it's been hardened and usually doesn't require anything like a coating to hold its shape or stay hard. Play dough, you will have to give it a coating of acrylic or something to keep moisture out so that it won't softened. If you want to use something like Playdough, you can make your own and it's probably better to use for what you want to do with it than the store bought stuff. Here are some recipes here on CO+K for it
http://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/diy_playdough_2
http://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/homemade_plydough
http://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/playdoh
or you can try google for others.
As far as polymer clay there are different brands like Fimo, Sculpey (different versions), Premo, Cernit, and Kato Polyclay. People have their own preferences to which ones they like for different reasons.

Project Tutorial Requests!

Good idea! Sometimes though there are how-to's for somethings, but just can't find it. It's kinda funny how you have to type in the right keyword to find a certain thing, so what I'm getting at is if there is a tut that someone wants to see, it just may already be posted so others that have seen can post the link to get to it. But yeah, this is great!

fimo problem....help me please...
Started about 3 years ago · Last post about 3 years ago ·
Really Kiddo? I will have to try that too. I wear rubber gloves sometimes too, better to get some that fit tight, they can be awkward but they also eliminate finger prints so less sanding or glossing after it's baked.

Glad I could help. I have since gotten better with sewing on zippers, so I know they can be a bit of a headache to install which is why I suggested leaving it off. But good luck with your project and would love to see it when it's done.

You can try purchasing a messenger bag at (they have them at walmart for a nice price) that you can dress up with patches, paint or whatever. If you can sew then that's a plus, then you can make one yourself.

You can modify it to your liking, like maybe leaving the zipper part off.

vinal material
Started over 3 years ago · Last post over 3 years ago ·
i have a little bit of green vinyl that I used to cover a book, then with a little piece of scrap, I made a key fob for a swap. But you can purses or small handbags or maybe even a bracelet with snaps.
I even have pleather material, its patten leather looking material, but soft and stretchy. I haven't used it yet though and I have 3 yards of it. I lucked up on it years ago when it was on sale at Hancock Fabrics. Love the stuff but don't know what I'm gonna make with it yet.
