Although I got into knitting thanks to a friend of mine before the big "trend" hit, I am a fan of the vogue knits collection. And although some of the patterns are very spur of the moment trendy (which doesnt make sense unless you own a machine knitter), some of the patterns are a little bit more timeless. Some of the sweaters they have are amazing, and I own a lot of vogue knits magazines that are years old, but still have items in them I want to knit when I graduate to something harder (going to start my first sweater this fall :D..interestingly enough..lol from vogue knits)
I think its nice that people are getting into crafting, even if it is trendy. People are learning skills that they may use again later on in life. Look at the DIY revolution that occurred with Generation T (not going to lie, I hopped on that bandwagon...although I guess I am still riding the bandwagon years later...). I think its cool that people are becoming inspired to make things themselves instead of buying it, no matter how short lived the trend or inspiration.

I've done it, its not hard, but try to find a sweater thats in good condition, otherwise the yarn can be pretty unruly. Have fun with it though, its definitely worth it!

COSTUUUUUUUUUUMES
Started over 4 years ago · Last post over 4 years ago ·
I"m actually a bit stuck on this one...I'm either going as:
a) An Anarchist from the movie Doomsday http://images.starpulse.com/Photos/Previews/Doomsday-movie-05.jpg
b) An Ice Queen
c) Betty Boop
or something else...I also have to get a costume together for my boyfriend... Anarchist would be hella easy and cheap, minus making dreadfalls. Ice Queen would be more work for sure, and Betty Boop would be beyond easy.
Any ideas to make this decision easier?

TextWall
Started over 4 years ago · Last post over 4 years ago ·
Alright, so I have a class that requires a big project, called a TextWall. Everyone is to build a 400mm x 400mm x 800mm box with a word on it, then the box needs to be decorated with something that describes that word. Also, its mandatory to use recycled materials to create this box. I have no idea what to do right now with it. I have a bunch of paint cnas, I was thinking of using those and putting the word Garbage? on the front, but I am wondering if that is just too literal...
Any Ideas?

Selling your wares in a store
Started almost 5 years ago · Last post almost 5 years ago ·
I used to make necklaces and sell them in consignment, it was great, but I have a tendancy to underprice my work so I didnt make as much as I should. And my mom used to craft sales all the time with her paintings and whatnot, those are always fun, but can get really really expensive for tables and whatnot. I find that if you know of street arts festivals (saskatoon fringe festival is the one I know of - look it up) often all you need is a busking license then you can set up and sell your wares, so its decently priced and you can sell a lot. I hope this helps!
