You’d be amazed at what you can find at thrift stores sometimes. If there’s a Ross nearby they’re pretty affordable to, what about Plato’s Closet? They’ve got jeans for as low as 9 bucks. It’s kind of pick and choose with them as far as the rest of the stuff goes bc it seems geared more towards 14-16 yr olds but the jeans are okay for someone in their 20’s. As far as style goes just cut out some photos in a magazine or print off line and take them in with you to see if you can find something similar but the best way to find out if you like something is to try it on. So my suggestions are Thrift Stores, if you’re looking for vintage stuff I’d go to Buffalo Exchange; if you’re looking for affordable jeans I’d go to Plato’s Closet. You can always try other ones but these are just some of the ones I'm familiar with. Ross has some nice stuff their jeans/dress pants are 13-20$. They usually have really cute blouses and dresses too. I wouldn’t suggest buying off line bc it may not look/fit how you thought it would based off of the photo on line.

Contact some of the environmental groups you follow and ask how you could help. Age isn't always a factor when it comes to things like this, in fact they may be really impressed that at your age you're taking an initiative to get involved and have a pretty strong idea of what career you'd like to get into.
Also, if there's a specific topic you'd like to write about or a certain person/group you'd like to interview then you may want to contact Cat about including a piece in Snippets and get in touch with them about it. (I recently did my first interview with Snippets and got to interview someone I truly admired so that may be something you want to look into as well.)
As for school, you'd probably want to get involved in journalism/photography classes. When you're in high school you can take college courses and get dual credit. You should take journalism/photog. related courses then as well. I'd talk with your school counselor or principal about it. You should talk to your current counselor about this and he/she would probably be able to help you out maybe get you an internship somewhere.
Btw, I think you’re an extremely admirable person for not only knowing what you want to do with your life but actually taking the next step to see what avenues you can pursue in order to expedite the process.

Funny you should mention this, I just sort of had one of my own with the Christmas Swap. I would just suggest that you appreciate the good experiences and not to let the bad ones discourage you from continuing to do what you do. It is disheartening to know that not everyone is as thoughtful and reliable as you are but unfortunately, that's just how things are. I would say in the future just be more careful about who you offer your assistance to. I'm not much of a chocolate fan but some hot chamomile tea or wassail should make things better :)

I was just annoyed with Suck-Bot and wanted people to be aware or more appropriately beware. CO&K is better than the other sites bc people are actually civil to each other & there isn’t really a competitiveness among anyone here also the site is just better organized /managed in general. So, it’s fine that you’ve hijacked my post. At least something good came out of my irritation for Suck-Bot.

That’s what Swap-Bot should change its name to. I understand the need to swap with reliable people but Suck-Bot’s “Swapping” and Rating methods are absolutely ridiculous and way out of control it seems to serve more as a popularity contest than a site for people to show their artistic talents and share them with others. Points for swapping emails…really? Since when the hell is swapping a mother-effing email a legitimate swap? More points for swapping letters and even more points for swapping packages, stars for being awesome, and hearts for being more awesome but good luck joining a descent swap or hosting one that doesn’t suck for that matter bc of all the crap swaps you must first endure in order to get a good rating but not before relying on others to “rate you”.Suck-Bot Sucks the suckiest suck there ever was to suck and I hope that CO&K doesn’t ever resort to their crap style of running their website.
I’ve been at CO&K for almost a year and ½ and have only been flaked on by 2 idiots but that’s no reason to take such drastic measures as does Suck-Bot. I think a simple thumbs up/thumbs down button on each person’s page to reflect their swapping history would suffice. The buttons would only be active when a swap has been completed or abandoned for 3 weeks, and then people would know automatically about one’s swap history by looking at their thumbs up/down on their page. Hmmm think I should include that to the CO&K suggestions board.
Anyway, I’d like to swap on other sites in addition to CO&K but I don’t like how some places are set up and absolutely loathe how Suck-Bot runs. What other places do y’all swap at?

Sandra made a post about Glow In The Dark Nail Polish and it made me think about Glow In The Dark Spray Paint.
I was going to get it a while back but when I read the information on the back it seemed like it was more black light responsive than ACTUAL Glow in the dark. Have any of you used GITD Spray Paint before?Does it actually work or is it just black light responsive paint?

I don't think it matters how many swaps you have or have not completed. People should be responsible and courteous enough to complete their end of a bargain & at the very least they should keep in touch. I think it’s a bit late for someone to complete the Christmas swap for Nicpea but maybe she could opt to receive a different set of items.
Nicpea,Lexi has already offered to step in on behalf of Reidergirl for our swap. I'm sure someone would be willing to help you out too.

I really like CO+K and the idea of swapping. It's unfortunate that people flake. At first I thought there was some kind of misunderstanding but it's a little difficult to believe being that other posts were made while my messages have been left unanswered.I think I'll just stick to swapping with people who I know are reliable or if I do end up swapping with new people I'll be sure to take Ashley's advice and not bother with international swaps. I'll have to check out Pammerz board since I haven't seen it yet. Thanks y'all

I’ve never had a problem before with shipping internationally or swapping in general until recently. Reidergirl and I were supposed to do a candy swap last month I did my part and have never heard back from her. She’s made posts elsewhere on the board but is apparently ignoring my messages.
I don’t want this experience to deter me from future swaps but at the same time I’d like to know in advance what members here have a history of not completing their swaps so as not to waste anymore of my time, money and effort.
Would you swap internationally after one bad experience?

He should have told them he already had plans with you unless it's a friend he hasn't seen in a while, then I would be understanding.
As for the housekeeping comment, that's complete BS those 2 guests are his therefore he should be playing maid and to bring it up in front of you makes matters worse. It puts you in a place where you
(A) Speak your mind and hurt people's feelings by making them feel unwelcomed or
(B)Bite your tounge unil their visit is over and vent here which pales in comparisson to actually speaking your mind.
I would pull him aside and let him know he embarassed you and hurt your feelings. I would save the real issue of breaking his promise for after the friends visit so as to not set an akward mood. I agree with Nikki about the wkend away:) it'll set things right again.

It seems to me that she is jealous of you, maybe something you own or some aspect of your life that she does not have.
You shouldn’t keep someone as a “friend†because you fear them as an enemy. However, if you feel that she is deserving of forgiveness and is capable of changing then I would say give her a chance but don’t let her continue to be a repeat offender.

consider yourself lucky. especially in high school. when i look back now i realize I had some really good guy friends i should have dated rather than the ones i did. I think the most important thing is to listen to your heart. Go with your gut instinct don't compromise your ideals or values for others.

been having problems logging into co+k?
for a while it wouldn't regognize my password so i changed it and logged in with my new one and it still didn't recognize it.
When it finally let me log in sometimes it shows everything at the top black bar (name,notificaitons,projects,etc.)and sometimes it doesn't.
I opened co+k in another window and the
login is completely gone.
Also when i click on different projects or msgs it takes a while to get there but my internet is fine with every other site I go to.
My computer has protection on it so it's not a virus or anything like that.
I guess this is more an odd issue of concern rather than a rant?
