    Painting Polymer Clay Charms:Bad?

Started 12 months ago · Last post about 1 month ago ·
I wouldnt worry like everyones saying a layer or 2 of gloss should help, Fimo and sculpey both have their own glosses for it.

Plus you can get a great variety of effects through painting

You can get varnishes specific for the brand, fimo have their own varnish and im not sure if sculpey do but the fimo one is really good and its water based and dries clear and waterproof so no stinky fumes

Not yet, been building up some designs and stock, might just start in local crafts fairs and a few friends from work want to hold jewellery parties for me to help get me established with some business cards for bridal and occasion jewellery, then i think i'll branch out online, still gonna set it up a facebook page.

best to use bleach then the colour will take and be really vivid, the blue dye i used when i was 16 looked quite dark but came out the most awesome shade of bright blue because i had bleached before doing it.

Through the whole thing once you've sculpted it all, then you can smooth out any flaws and then bake and it should work, i did it once for a school project and it worked x

Started almost 2 years ago · Last post almost 2 years ago ·
Thank you Libby W. I do have the beading bible but lent it to a friend so i need to get it back lol, and I do buy alot of beading magazines, it only occured to me yesterday that they show the basics in the mags lol.

Definately going to get back into doing it, I did start when i first started making jewellery but got impatient :)

Also really like the idea of a loom, i want to be able to cater for all tastes with my jewellery making for selling, so if someon askes for a weaved bridal piece or a wirework pendant i can do it even if its not a regular piece I make.

    Thanks again hun xx

You should be able to use kitchen foil, you need to really compact it down though and put the hole in before baking, also keep any scrap clay because it'll be useful to use as cores for beads in the future (also great for saving money)

The wire should be fine in the oven the melting point should be much higher than the baking temp for fimo.

Started almost 2 years ago · Last post almost 2 years ago ·
Same here Monika, i just love the feel of semi precious stones, I've got stabalised magnesite which is very similar to turqouise but a bit more affordable. I just loave all of them really, and i love glass beads.

Oooo that'd be great Libby. I'm alway quite reserved when buying beads, but I find good sellers and check sales for semi precious beads.

Bindiibabe, Hopefully he gets it for you soon and you can tell me how good it is, I like the idea of using cottom and felt for beads, I love making felt brooches x

Thats really cool, a technique i really want to try but it is expensive is silver clay where the silver is in a clay form and you use a little blow torch or gas hob to bake away the suspension leaving the silver shape behind.

Whats everyones favourite jewellery making techniques. Great to discuss for sharing ideas.

Mine personally are using eyepins to make beaded chains, headpin charm bracelets on chain and wire working (still quite basic atm but loving it. Simple stringing.

Also making fimo pendants and charms and shrink plastic pendants.

    Wholesale Vintage Style Jewelry Pieces

Started over 2 years ago · Last post almost 2 years ago ·
beadsunlimited.co.uk have a great selection of vintage style pendants and charms and do them at wholesale prices

also beadsdirect.co.uk do great pendants at great prices (not all wholesale but at reasonable prices to make items for resale) and they have a big sale on at the moment so the sale items tend to work out extremely cheap

    Hope this helps xx

Ive got a good one Nikki! And its actually local to me here in sleepy old lowestoft here in UK but does also sell online Its sells lots of cute fabrics quite cheap and they do little fat quarter sets and inspiration packs http://www.patchfabrics.co.uk/Fabric-Shop%281839719%29.htm

I found this when it opened its shopfront in my town a few months ago. Also theres a little shop in my towns highstreet that has been there for years as a sewing shop and its quite good for cheap polycottons.

I'm so excited I'm getting my second order from beads Direct and I've got loads of semi precious beads, metal findings and pendants coming my way! I cant wait it should be here tomorrow! x
