What are you itching to make?
Started 11 days ago · Last post about 1 hour ago ·
See I want to make something with some empty limited edition jean Paul gautier coke bottles made from aluminium. I was thinking they might be cool as the neck of a lamp or something but not 100% sure yet.

How do You Use Your iPad for Crafting
Started 5 days ago · Last post 3 days ago ·
I always google stuff, if I have an idea I'll see what google images has to inspire me. Also Pinterest is usually up in the background. And usually a YouTube vid of a full length concert to keep me going :)

Would anyone be up for swapping craft books?
Any craft books that are either unwanted gifts or books that have been used and you no longer want / need? I have a few i'd be willing to swap if anyone's interested?

Operation Christmas child
Started 9 months ago · Last post 3 months ago ·
Not sure if I posted about this last year too (I can't remember!), but does anyone else do the samaritan's purse operation Christmas child shoebox appeal? I just started getting a few bits for mine today.
For those who don't know what it is, basically you wrap a shoebox in Christmas paper, and fill it with gifts for children in various countries who would get no gifts at christmas time otherwise. I love doing this, and did it when I was a child in school too. :)

How do you motivate yourself to do crafts instead of collect ideas?
Started 10 months ago · Last post 8 months ago ·
I start projects ok normally (if you motivate yourself to get the stuff you need to make it that helps me), it's just finishing them!
I usually have to make deals with myself to finish making certain things before i do something else!
Today i made a point of telling my fiance that i was going to finish making something that needed doing, so i felt like i had someone to answer to if i didn't do it haha! (not that he would - he probably wasn't even listening!!)

What do you do with your projects?
Started 10 months ago · Last post 8 months ago ·
gifts mainly, also swaps and very occasonally i treat myself and make something just for me!
I always try to make everyone at least one handmade thing at christmas time, and for things like my daughter's birthday or fathers day/mothers day, valentines day i try make things as it's more personal. :)
Although sometimes i make something just to see if i can do it!

Could we have the community "near you" button back?
Started about 2 years ago · Last post 4 days ago ·
It wasn't like a google map thing where you could zoom in, it just showed which town you were in. I think sharing your location on your profile is optional anyway (although it won't work for me ATM,)

gift ideas for my soon to be 4 year old!
Started 11 months ago · Last post 10 months ago ·
My daughter is 4 in August so wanted to start thinking about finding something to make for her. Last year i made her a tea set ( http://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/crochet-tea-set-foodstuffs ) and she loves playing with it :)
This year i want to make her another thing/things that she will love. I've been looking on ravelry for ideas but so far haven't come up with anything.
It doesn't necessarily have to be crochet, i can sew and generally craft (can't knit). If any of you have seen anything cute feel free to share with me!

Thought it'd be interesting to see what new things people have learnt to do thanks to CO+K. It could be a how-to you've followed or a project that inspired you to learn a new craft form.
I'll go first.
Thanks to CO+K i've:
* Learnt how to sew lining in to bags properly (guitar bag How-to)
* Made myself learn how to crochet (after discovering Twinkie Chan on here)
* Learnt how to blanket stitch
* Learnt how to finger knit
plus probably loads more that i can't think of right now!

anybody done any craft courses?

My daughter is starting full time school in september and could do with deciding what i want to work wise as i don't plan on working in a bingo hall forever!!
I've been scouring the internet for textile courses seeing what's available etc. I can't seem to find any courses that give you a certificate at the end which i could do from home. This would be ideal for me as it'd be hard fitting in going to a college to do a course, working and my daughter.
Ideally i'd want a job where i can be creative, and i think having a course/certificate on my cv will look better than me saying i like sewing or whatever.
Has anybody done and craft courses? either in college/online/local craft store etc. I'd love to hear what you thought of them.

How about crocheting a little cocoon pod thing? i wish i'd seen these when i was pregnant as they're so cute!! there's patterns on ravelry:
http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/search#craft=crochet&page=1&view=captioned_thumbs&query=baby%20pod&sort=best
and they keep new borns all snug and warm!
You could sew little building block toys with different textures and things or make a quilt and bumper set for the cot (i know that'd be easy with your sewing skills!) or a cute little stacking toy like this:
http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/pond-friends-stacking-toy
or a taggie blanket:
http://www.theribbonretreat.com/blog/how-to-make-a-tag-blanket.html
haha, i've gona a bit mad on ideas!
A girl i work with is having a baby soon so i should really get started on making something for her too!! think i may go for the taggie blanket :)

RAF Menwith Hill in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, UK

I'd much rather be in Hawaii than uk!! Talk about the grass is always greener....
As other have said, it's pretty easy to get around UK by train. I can't drive so know all about the trains!!
Weather-wise we do get seasons, lots of rain, sometimes snow, sometimes a nice hot summer (not hot compared to Hawaii though!)
One good thing about UK is you can get cheap flights to europe with low-cost airlines, so you'd be able to visit europe easily if you wanted to!!
When will you know if it's going to happen??
