Crafts you want to try your hand at
Started almost 5 years ago · Last post almost 5 years ago ·
I've always wanted to learn tatting....and I'd like to try quilting with blocks and patterns instead of patchwork. I've tried again and again to learn how to knit, but there's just something about working with 2 needles instead of 1 hook that I'm unable to grasp.

What's the weather like where you are?
Started almost 5 years ago · Last post about 4 years ago ·
Here in Minnesota we usually have pretty mellow summers....but this year we had a late summer, and now it's either always raining or so hot and humid you don't want to be outside. I think today it's about 85 and the air feels absolutely sticky. But, I suppose that's better then 2 feet of snow. :)

Not Qualified to Clean?
Started almost 5 years ago · Last post almost 5 years ago ·
So the job market here, like I hear it is everywhere, is pretty slim. Now that gas is 4 dollars a gallon, I decided I needed to get a part time job to help make ends meet. I went and applied at 2 hotels in town for maid work. I used to do that when I went to college, and I never minded it. But, when I called back both of them said I wasn't qualified. Arrgghh...how can you be underqualified to clean hotel rooms? This is so frustrating...I haven't worked out of the house in a few years, but it seems like employers can't look past those few years to see my schooling, jobs before that. I'm just crabby about it, although maybe it's an ok thing. Minimum wage here is 6.15...that doesn't even pay for 2 gallons of gas to get me to work and back :P

Lemon Meringue....Yum! I've never had any luck with meringue, but I love it...I'll have to try again sometime. :) I'm not sure if this counts, but yesterday I made 180 ham buns for my little brothers graduation party. I thought 100 was over-estimating, but as the day went on I just kept making them and they kept eating them. :P Oh, I made my very first loaf of bread that didn't collapse in the oven this week! That's exciting for me, even if it did take around 10 loafs in my life before I got to this point.

Random!

What a great picture of the lion....I wish there was a Safari Park around here...I haven't been to a zoo in years. :)
My little brother graduated on Friday.....he was supposed to stay 10 forever in my mind, but of course life doesn't work that way, so now he's out of highschool and in the real world! :) Weird how time goes by so quickly.

Oh, I should read before I post...sorry about no luck in the job market queenfairypants....The job market is really not doing well here either...I have quite a few friends looking for work without a lot of luck. Good luck though, hopefully this economy will get better soon. :)

Today is a good day because my it was my boyfriend's last day of work for the summer! Yay. Today is a good day because we're drinking and grilling to celebrate and we can sleep in as late as we want for the next week at least before home improvements start. :P

Putting non-reduced items in the reduced section at Tescos
Started almost 6 years ago · Last post almost 5 years ago ·
This just happened to me yesterday...I went into the store and found the perfect button up purple sweater on a rack that said 85% off...when I got to the till it was $72...still full price. Arrrgghhh. So, I definitely didn't get the sweater. Oh well, perhaps when spring really comes to Minnesota it will go on sale.
zootm....I never thought of messing up a rack just to people watch, it sounds positively evil, but would be ammusing to watch the people's reactions! :)
And, I've thought about switching sale tickets a couple of times, but I'm a chicken and haven't done it.

Do you cook / what have you been making?
Started almost 6 years ago · Last post over 2 years ago ·
I hate when people don't appreciate my cooking or baking. That drives me nuts....where do they think the cookies on the coffee table come from? :P I made donut holes yesterday because it was chilly outside still....so unhealthy, but so delicious...and so much work frying little balls of dough. :)
Knittin' Kitten....I'm sure your dinner was great. It's impossible to please everyone, especially the people with the notion that veggies can't possibly taste good.
Roma...I love cake, I think it's one of my favorite foods...what kind did you make?

Waiting...

Waiting doesn't really bother me, but waiting longer then I expect to drives me insane. :) I especially hate waiting to meet my mom anywhere, she is constantly 20 minutes or more behindn schedule. :P

The ongoing wardrobe swap!
Started about 5 years ago · Last post over 4 years ago ·
I'm spring cleaning today and have a stack of purses and shoes. Now, I just need to borrow my friend's camera...hopefully pictures in the next day or two. :) The shoes are all 7 or 8 US sizes. And I haven't even begun to go through my clothes yet, but I wear anywhere from a size 12 to 16 in US sizes....if anyone is around that size. :)

any crocheters for the love of god help this poor girl!!!
Started about 5 years ago · Last post about 5 years ago ·
I've made quite a few tams over the years. My boyfriend has dreads and works a very messy job...and I wear one whenever I paint or cook or it's hot and want my hair away from my face. :) I've used this pattern quite a few times. The pictures are a little scary but I love the hat. I'll see if I can dig up a picture of one I've made. I also have made a few without patterns so if you don't like this one, let me know. :) http://bythehook.blogdrive.com/archive/46.html

I found a really adorable pink bundt pan at the thrift store this week. Yesterday I made a Double Fudge Bundt cake with a Cream Cheese flavored center. It was a little harder then I thought it would be, but it turned out delicious I think. :)

What Camera do you Use?
Started about 5 years ago · Last post 5 months ago ·
What type of digital camera does everyone use?
I'm shopping and need advice on a budget friendly/easy to use digital camera.
I had an old and cheap digital camera I've been using for the past 5 years or so, I borrowed it to my little brother when he went to Chicago on a band trip. They had a bus crash on the way home....it was scary. But to make a long story short, my little brother is fine and well but my camera did not return with him. :)

Flaming Carrot Flippers Crocheted...Help! :)
Started about 5 years ago · Last post about 5 years ago ·
This is really kind of random....but for my boyfriend's birthday, I'm crocheting his favorite comic book character...The Flaming Carrot. I'm absolutely stuck on how to make his flippers though, I think that's what they're called. I've tried writing up a pattern and will be more then happy to share it once I'm done...I'm pretty darn proud of how he's turning out so far....except for the flippers...I think I have about 15 little green crocheted mistakes...:P If anyone has any suggestions I'd be so grateful. His birthday/My deadline isn't until the 4th of May, but I'd love to get it done early. You can learn all about The Flaming Carrot and see what his flippers look like on Bob Burden's website. www.flamingcarrot.com
Any help would be sooo appreciated....Thanks!

I really like all of your paintings, but I love the first one...it would look great in my entryway! I'm really quite broke at the moment, but I have a ton of craft supplies, and I crochet, sew, and do needlework if you're interested in a personal swap. :)

Does any one else Crochet or Knit
Started over 5 years ago · Last post about 5 years ago ·
I crochet...and have been trying to teach myself to knit for a few years now. I just can't seem to get a grasp at using two needles instead of one hook. I agree with Cat on this; I think it would be a lot easier if I had someone to sit down with and show me how. Illustrations/Instructions just don't work with my mind I guess. :)

False nails
Started about 5 years ago · Last post about 5 years ago ·
I've never worn false nails, but my Aunt owns a tanning parlor/nail salon...and I think as long as you use non-acetone remover it should be all right...and I guess I'd be careful to use as little remover as possible.
Oh, I just noticed this was posted on the 23rd...if they only lasted 10 days, I'm probably no help at all. :)
