how to be popular on etsy?
Started over 3 years ago · Last post over 3 years ago ·
I have seen some videos on youtube promoting etsy stores, just some pictures of your wares, the name of your etsy shop, etc. Maybe that is worth a try. I have to agree with glamazon 08 about the craft fairs. There is a big craft fair that happens in my city twice a year and most of the vendors have buisiness cards which promote their etsy pages. I have checked out lots of etsy pages I probably wouldn't have found otherwise because they were at the fair and I took their business card. Also, I'm not sure if there are shops near you that carry items from local artists, but perhaps you can sell some of your items there and attach a tag with your etsy account.

Cloth Pads?
Started over 3 years ago · Last post 9 months ago ·
I found a site a while back that has patterns for different sizes and types of pads...

TigerLily, since there is not that much material involved in making these, you could probably sew some by hand (if you have the patience).

How can I make my eyes look bigger?
Started over 3 years ago · Last post over 2 years ago ·
You can still wear your dark makeup, but just line the waterline (I think that's what it's called [the inner bottom part of you eye]) with white and you can still wear the black on your bottom lash line. I'm with Erica, put some light shadow near your tear duct in the corner and that will also bring some light to your eye. The white doesn't have to be super-noticeable, it's just there to give the illusion of a bigger eye.

Line the bottom of your eyes with white eyeliner.

Swimming Queries
Started over 3 years ago · Last post over 3 years ago ·
If you put some leave in conditioner in your hair before you go in the pool, it will help protect your hair somewhat from the chlorine. I am a hairstylist and also swim once a week, and have found that if I put in a leave-in conditioner before swimming and use a gentle clarifying shampoo and deep conditioner after my hair does not feel as dry. Even though you probably don't want to hear this, a swim cap is your best bet.

Sewing on a patch?
Started almost 5 years ago · Last post almost 5 years ago ·
Thanks everyone. Yeah, I think I know what everyone is talking about, lol, I know that it is really hard to describe a stitch in words. Anyway, pretty much what everyone said is what I assumed, so I'll let you all know how it turns out.

Sewing on a patch?

I actually don't know exactly what the hat is made out of, but it is a typical baseball hat. The patch is one of those thicker, raised ones, like one that a girl/boyscout would earn.

Sewing on a patch?
Started almost 5 years ago · Last post almost 5 years ago ·
My boyfriend wants me to sew a patch onto a hat for him and I have never actually sewn a patch to anything before, so I was wondering if anyone knew a good method to do so. I am going to do it by hand, so if anyone could recommend a stitch or any tricks to make it look good I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Hard Scratchy Yarn for Dishcloth?
Started almost 5 years ago · Last post almost 5 years ago ·
I have also seen dishcloths made from plastic bags and have heard that they are good for scrubbing. I have just recently gotten into crocheting so I really can't give much more advice than a nod to the plastic bag idea. I posted a tutoorial a while back on how to make the plastic yarn if you are interested in giving it a try.

Hair dye...
Started almost 5 years ago · Last post almost 5 years ago ·
Technically all those crazy colors are classified as semi-permanent because they only deposit color. I am a hairstylist and have used alot of different products over the years and unfortunately they all fade pretty quickly. I used to use Manic Panic on mine back when I used to color my hair. I just washed my hair less often to make the color last longer.

Selling your wares in a store
Started almost 5 years ago · Last post almost 5 years ago ·
Cool. I have kind of given up on the store idea because the store that is near me takes half of the money earned, so I would make too little in return, because much like you Jessica, I also tend to underprice my work. Unfortunately there are not many flea markets in Chicago, but there are a ton of farmer's markets, so perhaps that is worth looking into. Thanks for the suggestions.

I need sewing help!
Started almost 5 years ago · Last post almost 5 years ago ·
I don't know. I would try to sew with a scrap piece of fabric of a different material to make sure that there isn't something going on with your machine. All I can think of is changing the needle. I hope that you figure it out soon. Good luck!

Maybe you use to use a larger needle. What kind of fabric are you sewing with?

I am back...sorta...(pic of evil step)
Started almost 5 years ago · Last post almost 5 years ago ·
I hope that you start feeling better soon! While you are confined to the bed you could always bead. I sometimes do beading while I am laying on the couch and as long as you put the beads in little bowls they won't roll around everywhere. You could also do some embroidery by hand. I don't know how to crochet either, but I am actually taking a class next week at my local library on how to crochet things from plastic bags and I plan on posting a how-to once I am done with the class, so I will try to explain how to crochet. I think if you type "crocheting" into YouTube, you should be able to find a tutorial on it too.

bedazzle me baby "no seriously"
Started almost 5 years ago · Last post almost 5 years ago ·
I had one of those things in the 80's/early 90's! You can use it to make some cool felt creations, like a bracelet, a cozy of some type, or something decorative (sorry, I'm not too imaginitive today). You can embellish a tote bag. I remember when No Doubt became popular back in the mid-90's my friend and I dug out the old Bedazzler and bedazzled our bra straps like Gwen Stefani did. You could always bring that trend back...it is tank top weather.

Dried herbs?
Started almost 5 years ago · Last post almost 5 years ago ·
There was a tragedy with the herbs. I had them sitting on the kitchen counter and a rancid watermelon leaked all over them. I had to dispose of all of the herbs because they got soaked in rotten watermelon leakage, I mean this thing got juice all over the kitchen. Fortunately the plants are still growing, so I will trim them again soon and dry some more leaves. I did get a little bit of use out of some of the herbs though. Thanks for all of your great suggestions everyone, I would like to do a little bit of everything with them. Now we must wait until I cut the next batch...

Why do you craft?
Started almost 5 years ago · Last post almost 5 years ago ·
I started crafting about ten years ago, when I was a senior in high school. I took a sewing class and I think that it was my teacher, Mrs. Kiethley, that made me love sewing. I used to make a lot of things which I thought were cool and unique and she always liked what I created and really encouraged me to create more and more. She actually displayed a bunch of bags that I made in a display case in the hallway of our school, which I thought was really cool. I started out with sewing and eventually moved on to different crafts. I went back to my high school a few years ago to say hi to Mrs. Kiethley and she had absolutely no idea who I was! I was really disappointed, but oh well, she has hundreds of students every year so I guess I can't blame her for forgetting one of them.
P.S. I also won "most unique" senior year. I hope you win it!

I am so sorry to hear that happened to you. I hope that all goes well at the surgeon today. Just try not to get too stressed out about the things that you are not able to do right now, you will be able to figure out how to manage once you get used to the cast and all. I really hope you start feeling better soon.

You could make a halter top, those always seem to turn out well when made from stretchy material. Or maybe you could do some of those cloth headbands.

Garage Sale Finds.
Started about 5 years ago · Last post almost 5 years ago ·
Like Magical Pony stated earlier, people in Chicago throw out some great stuff. I have found tons of great stuff driving through the alleys, like my computer desk and some really cool paintings.
My boyfriend and I recently got a like-new, hardly-used Kitchen Aid mixer at a garage sale for only $20. Best deal ever!

Spicy recipes!
Started over 5 years ago · Last post almost 5 years ago ·
My boyfriend and I recently spent some time in the Yucatan region of Mexico and loved the food. When we got back home we tried to replicate a couple of recipes that we tried while we were down there. We made some Yucatecan chicken with achiote paste (I can't remember the recipe off the top of my head, I can post it once I get it from my boyfriend). The recipe for the chicken is also on the box of the achiote paste. The chicken is not spicy, it is very tasty, but not spicy. However, the accompanying salsa is soooo hot. It is basically a mixture of habanero chiles, red onion, and orange juice and is super-delicious and super-spicy. Again, I will get the recipe from my boyfriend and post it here. Both dishes are really easy to make and taste awesome.
