nursing clothes?

i want to make some of my own, i have a very odd sense of style that not even the thriftstore can supply. buuuuut... all the nursing clothing patterns i have found online are for purchase only!!! wondering if anyone has any interesting ideas on this plight? also, im a novice seamstress, so nothing TOO skill-intensive! i guess the closest thing i could say to call my style would be hippie-ish eclectic loose and comfy, yet figure flattering?

so see if you crocheters out there can make heads or tails of it, ive gotten as far as row 10 being "pretty sure" i was doing correctly, but then, on 11 where it wants (inc,3 sc) the stitches dont fit and it makes it all wavy weird and i am almost positive its not right. so im reading it wrong, i am assuming, i just dont know what to change! here goes...

materials:
Lily's Sugan 'n cream, 100% cotton yarn, 2.5 oz/71g=approx 120yd/109m, one ball each of delft blue and hot green ( i couldnt find delft blue and used hot blue, looks good together also!)

to start.
in green, ch 6

rd1: starting in second ch from hook, sl st 4 back down chain, ch 1, 8 sc in the last ch, then go around the back of the stem and join to ch 1, ch 1.

rd2: 2 sc in each st, join, ch 1

rd3: sc in each st, join, ch 1

rd4: (inc, 1 sc) around, join, ch 1

rd5: sc in each st, join, ch 1

rd6: (in FRONT loop only) (sk 2 st, 6 dc in one sp, sk 2 st, 1 sc) 4 times, join to first ch, fasten off green.

rd7: with blue, in BOTTOM loop of previous rnd, ch 1 and sc in same sp. (inc, 1 sc) around, place marker and move at end of each rnd to keep track.

rd8: sc in each st (36 sc st)

rd9: (inc, 2 sc) around

rd10: sc in each st

rd11: (inc, 3 sc) around.

rds12-28 for an infant sized hat, stop increasing and spiral down to rnd 28.

***ok, now, looks simple, and i was SO SURE i would be just fine, but i am confused... doesnt (inc, 3 sc) mean 3 single crochets in each crochet of previous round? if so, it just looks WEIRD and WRONG to my eyes... AT LEAST Lily's sugar n cream is cheap and cute for stashing!!!

so i bought it from half priced books to refresh myself on knitting etc and check out some tres cute crochet patterns in it, namely one toggle backpack and one blueberry baby cap, for my little one on the way. these are the WORST crochet patterns i have EVER tried to follow, having NO stitch count, not telling what size hook is called for, not telling where to inc or dec, among other things. I AM SO BLOODY FRUSTRATED I COULD BURST!!! lol it made me cry last night trying to make the blueberry hat, i sobbed to my boyfriend "i just want our baby to look like a little blueberry, is that so much to ask , dammit?!?!"...

yes. he laughed.

i went to a walmart the other day, to get some things for a camping trip. on the loud speakers, an "american" song was on (oh beautiful i think it was, something like that) but on all the labels of anything i looked at in that store was "CHINA". talk about irony. and arent the chinese using that money they get for things we dont necessarily want them doing? and what about the fact we have sosososoooo many recalls of things made in China, mostly childrens toys and baby care items. WTF?!?!?

Spicy recipes!

ADDED:

You can substitute chicken, fake chckn, chickpeas or whatever for the prawns to make it cheaper, the curry paste is about 5 US but lasts a LOONG time, everything else is relatively cheap. Also, you can add veggies to this such as peas, carrots, broccoli, etc. Also you can use a little coconut milk in the beginning to give it a neat sweet/spicy flavour!!!

Spicy recipes!

here is a favourite recipe of mine, can be made as spicy as you wish!!! my mom has made it for me since i was a kiddy, and now i mkae it for my boyfriend on special occassions (we both looove it!!!)

Shrimp and Prawn Curry from the Kitchen of Lenevia!!! (BTW...all measurements are unavoidably approximations, there is no real recipe for this, we do it by eye!!!)

2 lbs prawns *raw (i think size 25/30?) peeled, deveined, rinsed
1 lb little baby shrimp (precooked), rinsed
1 stick o butter
flour (white all purpose presifted)
red curry paste (available in the "ethnic" section at the grocers,or and Indian store)
regular yellow curry powder
9 cloves garlic (or more, to preference, i use LOADS cos im a garliholic!), finely chopped
one half white onion, finely chopped
chicken broth, one large can or three small ones, approximately
about 8 cups cooked white or brown rice

In a large saucepan, melt butter to a bubble, add onions and garlic and sautee untill onions become clear. add durry paste and curry powder to desired amount, the more the spicier!!! Slowly add flour until forms a thick red roux, about 2 cups i think? SLOWLY add chicken broth, stirring WELLLLL until forms a liquidy mix (will thicken during cooking, it is easier to make it thinner than thicker, so do this GRADUALLY and with restraint!!! you can always add more broth later, adding more flour to rethicken is a ROYAL PAIN, it makes clumps!!!) Put a lid on her and simmer at medium low heat, stirring frequently and adding more broth if it becomes too thick, until you can smell it at the end of the block, or about an hour or so! It will be by now a thick gravy consistency, add prawns, cover and simmer until prawns just turn from grey to pink, no longer or they will become tough and chewy. Add shrimp, turn off heat, ladle over bowls of rice, ENJOY!!!

hope you all enjoy this, ive never shared the recipe but *hey* spread the looove!!!

i would definitely looove to take part in this, as a matter of fact, PERFECT TIMING!!! I'm 8 months pregnant, and i have been really craving (even to the point of dreaming about!~) a candy i had in Canada when i was little. i dont remember what it was called, but it was roundish, with a ring/ridge around it, came in lots of colours, and was sour. they had the kind of chalky or powdery look to em, and were delicious! i bought them at a wax museum in Victoria BC when i was like 8. i have been to Canada since, but i totally forgot about the candy due to being 18 in Canada at the time :) i live in the States, and if theres any kind you want that you dont have, type me a message and we'll trade!!!

So i have been looking online for a good half hour for a nice pattern for a diaper bag for our upcoming arrival...nada. Anyone have any patterns that could be converted, or even better, one that already is for a diaper bag? Guess you could say i am a hippy-ish lady, `a la dreaddies, bare feet and tie dye, and just want something made from stuff around the house, and some what more personal and pretty than the stupid eddie bauer city-black leather affairs they try to sell us mommies to be, like a freakin diaper bag is going to make me more sophisticated or something...? Thanks a lot in advance! :D

I am so bloody frustrated!!! I am new to crochet, having became disgusted by trying to learn to knit. I really want to make a pastafarian hat, but for the life of me i can not find a pattern for crochet, or even knitting! I am not (by far not) talented enough to come up with my own... anyone have any ideas???

Here's a picture of the hat... :( I WANT IT!!!
