OK, so Zina, I posted you some shrink plastic today - only clear I'm afraid, I can't find the black anywhere. And Violetta, I sent you some plastic, some rhinestones and some feathers. I bought green and black ones but they didn't have any purple in the shop, but when I got home I found that the bag I thought I had, I do have and it has all three colours in so I sent that too!

I wrote a massive reply to this but am now supposing it would be considered as "taking it too seriously". I will let you all get on with having your own opinions but will make sure I don't share my own opinions or ask you to clarify yours in case I "ruin the spirit of the community".

I'm not affiliated with any of these, I've just bought from them and had good service.
Also on Ebay, kstrachan66 is probably my favourite seller, but there are tons out there.

Projects and how to`s

Heather C said "yea it gets to me too. actually what drives me nuts is when people post a "tutorial" for a project but it's more of an idea for something. also when the projects is soooooo simple, i think to myself, "really, do we need a tutorial for that?" . there have been some projets that make me raise my eyebrows but i never say anything. i just hate to see the spirit of this website be marred by stuff like this. "
Then Creative Mind said "To be honest though, I hardly ever check the projects anymore because of this and I also agree with Heather about posting something that's not really post worthy as a project. "
I'm now worried my stuff isn't really post-worthy.

I get that Lolly Bot, but if you read back through the thread, some people ARE saying that you shouldn't put up basic projects that they don't feel are worthy. Hang on, I'll have a look who said it.

Whilst I agree with most of what you're all saying, I think it's a bit unfair to slate people for posting "basic" projects. Some of us only have very limited craft skills or are learning new skills and so whilst you may think, for example, my knitted scarf is "too basic" to be on this website, I'm really proud of it!

Hello,
I'm hoping someone out there can help. I've been looking for present ideas for Christmas/birthdays and LOVE the gummy bears soaking in vodka. I'd love to make a version for my brother (they would have to be soaked in Tequila - his favourite) and was thinking of doing gummy worms ... but then I remembered! He's a very strict vegetarian and veggies can't have gummy/jelly sweets! Does anyone know of a type of gummy/jelly sweet I can get that doesn't contain gelatine? If not, any ideas if this would work for other types of sweets? I can't imaging it working with boiled sweets, but maybe I'm overlooking something...
Thanks!

Knitting Help!!!
Started over 2 years ago · Last post over 2 years ago ·
I recently learnt from Knitty Gritty. It's amazing! I made a scarf, some booties and a hat and after that felt confident enought to try the lace pattern scarf and now I've been knitting toys and all sorts. It's a really clear book.

Hang on though, I've just had a thought - the rhinestones are not self adhesive - the sticky backed ones are really expensive here - is that OK? you can stick them on with PVA glue and they hold fast (better than the sticky back ones do). You'd get all colours except light blue! - Silver, gold, yellow, light pink, dark pink, violet, lilac, dark blue, dark green and light green. You can have a mixed wheel or pick your colours!

Violetta, if the wire Essex Debs is offering is silver and you want coloured, I can get coloured and it's thin so good for knitting. They also sell jump rings in the local craft shop. I'll let you sort out what you want to swap with Essex Debs and if there's still something she can't get, just let me know. I have thousands of 3mm/4mm coloured plastic flat back rhinestones and I had to buy 12 multicoloured packets just to get the light blue ones for my wedding stationary!! You would be welcome to them. Feathers I don't know. I have a mixed pack somewhere I think...

I have completed the Newbie swap with Hannah, I recieved a wonderful box full of polymer clay goodies last night! Does this mean I'm officially a "vet"?

what are you working on?
Started over 4 years ago · Last post over 2 years ago ·
Just finished 6 items for the newbie swap and a knitted scarf, sewn notebook cover, jar of Chai tea and feltie key ring for my mother-in-law's birthday.
Now I'm working on an appliqued/embroidered patchwork alphabet chart for my goddaughter's birthday, a set of appliqued tee-shirts for a friend's daughter's birthday, a large cross stitch of a couple doing the Tango, a collection of felties and several birthday and anniversary cards... I'm sure I'm supposed to be doing something else but can't remember what!

An embarrassingly basic question: where to buy supplies?
Started almost 3 years ago · Last post over 2 years ago ·
Hobbycraft and the Range both have pretty good supplies, they're nationwide, but I'm afraid I have no idea where Guilford is, so I've put links below to the pages where it shows you a list/map of stores, hope that helps!

Alphabet chart - help with words!
Started almost 3 years ago · Last post almost 3 years ago ·
Hi guys,
My problem here is the pictures, you've all come up with some great words, but there's no way I can draw a goose or a zebra and cut them out of fabric about 4" square and make them look like what they actually are. I'm hand appliquing all this remember! She's only 2 so she wouldn't know some of these words like gift or x-men and most adults in britain don't know what a yam is (I'm not sure myself)...
Thanks anyway.

Alphabet chart - help with words!

Hi everyone,
I'd appreciate any help/ideas you can give me here and I know you're a creative bunch! My goddaughter will be 2 next month and I'm making her an alphabet chart. I'm appliqueing pictures onto 6" fabric squares which I'll then sew together to make a patchwork wall hanging. The letters will be made separately and have velcro on the back, each square will have a velco strip to attach the letters to. I've done Apple and Bird so far and have plenty of ideas for most of the letters, but some I'm stumped on!
Please bear in mind I can't draw, I've got to cut out and sew the peaces of each picture so simplicity is the key, they are fairly small. Can you suggest anything for the following letters?
G (I had thought of giraffe but would prefer something that sounds like "g" as a child would say it - like gate or goose)
J
K
N
V
W
X
Y
Z
Any suggestions?
thanks
BG.

Thinking about my future
Started almost 3 years ago · Last post almost 3 years ago ·
Yes, I'm a Nottingham girl born and bred and returned here from abroad. I take it it's the NOttingham Uni you've applied for? They usually let students live on campus. If not then Beeston is full of students and only a few minutes walk away. Mansfield isn't so far - there's a direct bus from town.
