Yay! I got the most awesome pair of handmade armwarmers from Stacy S. yesterday. :) After all my frustrations with Paypal and their idiot behavior lately, the package really did cheer me up! Thank you soooo much, the card was very sweet and since I just got a part-time job at Target, the armwarmers will match my red shirt when it gets colder out.

Paypal - Making Anyone Else Furious?
Started 8 months ago · Last post 8 months ago ·
Recently, I re-opened my Etsy and Ebay stores. I've made a couple of Etsy sales, and everything went smoothly. I got paid instantly, I was able to transfer money to my bank account, things were awesome. Then, I made some Ebay sales (all my auctions ended on the same day, so there were several all at once.) and everything went to hell.
At the time of my Ebay sales, I decided to apply for a Paypal debit card, so that I could use the money sent to me instantly for shipping costs and whatnot. (Its really inconvenient to have to wait 3-4 business days for funds to transfer from Paypal to my bank account.) I was denied, which I thought was strange. It's not a credit card, it's just a debit card, that's only supposed to allow me to access funds that are already there! I figured, oh well, whatever. I also notice that my funds are on hold - Ebay and Paypal have apparently decided to team up and really screw people over now. Now, they want "proof" that the item was shipped before you can have your money. I'm not going to pay to track the shipment of a .99 cent t-shirt, that seems ridiculous! I bite the bullet and figure ok, well, when I get positive feedback for the item, then my money will be released to me for sure. HA. Despite tracking numbers on some items stating that they were delivered and positive feedback being left for ALL items funds are being held for... I still can't access my money. So really, I just paid out of my own pocket to mail free items to strangers. All I can do is hope that Ebay & Paypal give me my money, because now there's even MORE crap going on with Paypal.
The day after I applied for the debit card, I logged into Paypal and saw that my account was "under review" and I had a certain number of days to send them proof of my identity and social security number or they were going to deactivate my account. This seems entirely ridiculous to me. I have had my account with them for 7 years! Despite being really nervous about sending ANYONE my personal information, I scanned pay stubs (to prove address and ss #), my passport and AZ state ID card (to prove I'm really me), and my social security card. I am pretty appalled that they threatened to shut down my account unless I sent them this personal information!!!
Anyway. A few days later, they return my account to normal. They are still holding my funds for the Ebay sales, but I've given up on that at this point, and am trying to be patient while waiting for the money to be available so that I can transfer it to the bank. Tonight, I finally see that $11 is available and find out... Paypal has unlinked my bank account because it is "under review".
REALLY!?!?!?!? After sending all that info and being patient and cooperative for the last 2 weeks... this. They want me to fax them a copy of the bank statement with the two small deposits that Paypal made in order to link the two accounts in the first place, and A COPY OF MY ID. ARRRRRRRRRGH. I just sent them this! I have online banking, I don't get any kind of paper statements to fax them. So now they expect me to have to print out that statement, print out some Paypal-approved cover sheet, go to Office Depot, and pay $5 to fax it all to them. Money that will come out of my own pocket, of course.
I see on Google search now that a lot of people are having these issues with Paypal. I wish I would have found that out before I reopened my stores. :( I am so angry and offended at this point, I really just want to close everything again and stop shopping online so I can tell Paypal to shove it up their ass. But I kind of need my $50 they have.
Anyone else having these problems? Does anyone know of any other payment options to use? I love selling and buying from other awesomely creative people, but I am officially SICK of Paypal.

Goth Swap

I'd love to do this one :) I haven't done the Newbie swap here on CO + K yet so I know I'll need to send out first.
Name: Lola
Location: Gig Harbor, WA
Ship Internationally: yes
I love: blood, anatomical illustrations of bones and organs, bats, spiderwebs, skeletons, zombies, sparkly things, nail polish and lip gloss, rings, earrings, necklaces (I don't usually wear gold colored metal jewelry, though... mostly silver, gunmetal, or bronze or copper), big flower hair accessories, fingerless gloves and arm warmers, gummy candy, and... well, I like most things (especially if they could be considered gothic!) and I always appreciate handmade items

Maybe do a T-shirt quilt? Or make one of the infinity scarves out of t-shirt strips. I think there's some good tutorials on here for those.

Who lives in Seattle?
Started about 1 year ago · Last post 9 months ago ·
I love Washington state! I've lived a lot of places, and this is the one I've stuck with the longest. I don't live in Seattle any more (I've moved to a more "rural area" called Gig Harbor) but I'd say you should at least check it out :)
There's a ton of creative people here, and there's always something neat to do, if you like to go out and about.

'PIF' Stash Swapping...
Started 9 months ago · Last post 9 months ago ·
Hello to all my fellow crafters! I have a proposition, I hope that it will catch on. (I'm sorry if there's something like this already going on, but I looked back quite a few pages and didn't see anything...)
I do a lot of swaps on ATCsforall.com, and there's a really neat thread there for PIF stash swaps. (PIF = Pay It Forward) General idea is: I will post first, and the person to post a reply will inbox me their address & get an envelope from me full of stash scraps and goodies, and then that person will send an envelope to the person who replies 3rd, and so on.
It's up to you how much you send to your recipient, but I think to make it fair, it should at LEAST be a nicely-filled legal size envelope (4 1/8" x 9 1/2" in the US, and I suppose A-8 or so elsewhere? I'm not too knowledgeable on those envelope sizes.)
When you post a reply, be sure to post what kinds of things you'd like (scrapbook papers, book pages, handmade papers, stickers, collage bits, embellishments, fabric bits, fibers, found items, etc. or anything in particular you're interested in like certain animals, colors, etc.) and whether or not you're willing to ship internationally - then send your mailing address to the person above you so they can get your goodies sent out :)
I hope this works out, I have so many papers and interesting bits of things strewn about. I love to share, and I'll be cleaning out my stash at the same time... which means more room for collecting more supplies, haha.
Oh! One last note - I'll take responsibility for anyone who doesn't receive their envelope. If your goodies don't show up within a reasonable time after someone says they're sending them, just drop me a message and I'll put something together so no one is left out.
Now, to get started. Who's first to get an envelope from me? I don't have a problem shipping internationally, but won't be able to mail it until the 24th.

I would like to trade some zombie/spooky/vampire ATC's with you, DarkAshHurts :) I haven't made any in a while and I just came across some of my paper scraps and things. How many would you like to do? It might take me a week or so to get them ready and mailed (I am working a lot of overtime at the moment!)

Necklace Organization
Started over 1 year ago · Last post about 1 year ago ·
You can use a small corkboard from just about any office supply/walmart/target/etc. You can even paint it with acrylics if you'd like (I put a leopard print around the frame on mine) and then, just add some clear push pins to hang necklaces from.
I also use styrofoam halloween headstone decorations to hold jewelry. I just mounted them to the wall, and added those clear push pins. :)

Essex Debs is right, Golden Gel Mediums have worked the best for me. They are thicker than regular white glue and hold the beads better when I tried this.

Acrylic on a Bikini?
Started over 1 year ago · Last post 4 months ago ·
i have never tried using acrylic on a stretchy material like bikinis are made out of, but i have used it on cotton and it seems to be fine in the wash. i don't know if the paint would crack on stretchy stuff.
maybe you could try cutting the bats and swirls or whatever other shapes you're using out of a different colored fabric and stitch them on?

Rather Random - Screen Names
Started over 3 years ago · Last post about 1 year ago ·
I've been going by Lola since 2007 or so. There are a lot of people that I know who don't know my real name is Brittany. Everyone says that "Brittany" doesn't really fit me, and I've always loved the name Lola, so I just sort of adopted it. "Lola Ebola" is the name I perform under, when I do my zombie/horror/gory burlesque shows. =)

How to organize my bedroom??
Started over 1 year ago · Last post over 1 year ago ·
Oooh I have the same problem! And it seems as though every time I talk myself into throwing something away, I end up needing it a few days later.
I love the different size clear plastic tubs and boxes. They stack easily, you can see what's in them without opening them, and they even have some that are made to fit right under the bed. That's where I have to store a lot of my crafting materials now! I also use corkboards (you can paint the wooden frames with a cute pattern, if you want) to keep track of small papers/reciepts/anything you might need to find later.
This site has tons of products/ideas for organizing:

Anybody else hate spending Christmas whit his own family?
Started over 3 years ago · Last post 5 months ago ·
I am glad my family is far away, back home in Arizona. I love them, but they have some serious issues. I've never had a nice, calm family gathering with them. There always has to be yelling and blaming and crying and slamming doors, and that kind of stuff drives me crazy. If there's one thing my family taught me, it's that yelling doesn't really accomplish much besides upsetting people and making them defensive, so the real issue never gets solved.
This year was the first year in about 20 years that I had a truly wonderful Christmas. I spent the holiday with my boyfriends' family, and they are such nice, sweet people. They really love each other and enjoy one anothers' company. They have been so accepting of me and I'm more grateful than they can imagine that they let me be a part of such a nice family holiday.

Awesome! Its nice to see so many responses :) I have been using the ATCsforall.com website, I've done some awesome swaps there so far. In fact, I've been so distracted by them recently that I sort of forgot that I posted a thread here... oops! Well, I blame the holidays too.
But if anyone else uses the other trading site, you can find my profile here :)

cell phone without a contract?
Started over 2 years ago · Last post over 2 years ago ·
Hi everyone! I'm posting this question a few places online in the hopes of getting some feedback that will help guide me in the right direction.
I want to get a new cellphone (the one I have is terrible - it turns off randomly, doesn't alert me to messages sometimes, and just gets worse the longer I keep it) but I don't want to sign a contract. Have any of you used a pay-as-you-go service? What's your experience and opinion? I know I'll end up paying more for the new phone up front but right now, I don't even care. I'm just SO frustrated with the phone I have.
I've heard okay things about Boost mobile, but figured it couldn't hurt to ask around and see what ya'll think too :)

budgeting
Started over 2 years ago · Last post over 2 years ago ·
I am terrible at budgeting, too. My husband is also bad with money - so even though we technically make more than enough money to cover our living expenses, it seems we're broke a lot. I have heard good things about the site www.mint.com, but I haven't really set up my account there yet. They can set it up to send you alert messages when you're close to your limit on different categories of items, but you have to link them to your bank account.
Thankfully we don't have any credit cards, and the hubby's student loan is ALMOST paid off, so even if we don't always have a lot of extra cash or savings, we're also not really in debt. But this year is the first year I've really had a lot of close friends to get gifts for, and I'm discovering that Xmas can be a huge money drain!

Husband rant
Started over 2 years ago · Last post over 2 years ago ·
Oh sweetie, I feel your pain. My husband would gladly live in a huge mess if I would let him. (The apartment he lived in when I met him was soooo messy!) I've had very little time to clean lately, and he keeps saying that he'll help me... but never does. Or he'll do something like putting away a few things in the wrong place, and then going back to the couch. I bet he thinks that if he puts stuff away wrong, I'll stop asking him to do it.
But what really, really, really gets me is the cat litter box. Now, the cat is most definitely my husband's cat. He hates me! All I ask is that my husband take a few minutes each day to scoop it out, because its right next to my washer and dryer, and I absolutely hate smelling cat messes all the time. But does he do it? NO. I asked him AGAIN this morning because it was smelly, and he says "I'll get around to it." and sits in front of a video game.
SRSLY. i feel completely scattered when the house is messy - how can people not feel the need to clean up after themselves? ugh. >_<
