Ray LaMontagne is such an underrated artist who should be way bigger than he is. So much talent and soul in his songs. ♥

pride, prejudice and ZOMBIES
Started about 3 years ago · Last post over 2 years ago ·
HAHA yes! I got a copy the day it was published! I thought it was really funny how it seemed to be a commentary on marriage. The discussion notes in the back cracked me up because I was analyzing the whole thing. Any book riddled with zombies must have a deeper message to get across... right? ;P Has anyone read Mr. Darcy, Vampire? The thought of Darcy drinking blood was a tad much. I don't think the author meant it to be as funny as I found it.

Three cheers for Luna!! I read your posts yesterday and was stunned. What a horrible boss! I can't believe she wanted you to get on your knees and beg. That's the point at which I'd have snapped and gone on a serious rampage. I no longer think my boss sucks tho lol. Anyways, you're better off without that garbage! If I could, I'd totally give you a high five. Way to have a backbone girl! Keep up a positive attitude and things will keep getting better :) One door closes and another one opens.

one of those books you just can't put down
Started over 4 years ago · Last post about 2 years ago ·
Just read The Amityville Horror again. The movies do this book no justice. Now I'm such a wuss - I have the hardest time with scary movies, but something about this book is so riveting I have to read it every fall, and usually do so in one sitting. If you love getting the creeps this book is a good one.

Some lady today successfully got under my skin today. I work at JoAnn's Fabrics and yeah - as far as a store goes it can be fairly confusing with the vague sales signs etc etc but this woman gets her fabric cut and brought it to me while I was serving my hour at the register and I looked at her fabric and what she handed me didn't match what was on the cutting slip. So I had to locate the fabric and correct article numbers and redo everything so she'd be charged the correct price and to apologize for the inconvenience I even threw in a 40% coupon on one of the items.
She couldn't wrap her head around me refusing to charge her for 8 items and let her leave with 10, and then after reviewing her charges and explaining everything to her including the great deal I gave her for making her wait a few more minutes, she informs me she'll be back tomorrow to check with a manager. So I told her I was a manager and that I could assure her everything was right yadda yadda blah blah blah and she gave me a scathing look and asked if I'd be working tomorrow. I said "I'm sorry ma'am, I will not be in tomorrow" she goes "GOOD".
@&*$&%! *&%$#%@%%@^#&*!!!
Not like I didn't bend over backwards to try and accommodate her and saved her more money by correcting her slip and giving her a coupon, than she'd have spent if I'd not been thorough. Grrrrrrrrrrr.
It's Johnny Cash time.

I'm so excited for Halloween this year! I've been working on a jellyfish costume that I'm determined will be epic. It even lights up and glows like a jellyfish. My S.O. is going to be "NOT Waldo" - you know, one of those guys in the Where's Waldo books that you totally have to look at twice because you could have SWORN that was Waldo... lol. He's special.

What was the last movie you watched?
Started about 6 years ago · Last post about 1 month ago ·
For some reason I've been watching Wristcutters (based on the book, Kneller's Happy Campers) on a weekly basis - background noise for my sewing machine I guess. If you haven't seen it yet - I highly recommend it. It's about what happens to you when you commit suicide and is a bit thought provoking, quite hilarious - and then Tom Waits pops up which makes it simply awesome.

I'm gonna be a jellyfish! So far it's taken lots of bubblewrap, shiny material and a big dome umbrella. Just adding the final touches - like glittery/ocean shoes, and a flashy miniskirt so I still look cute when I'm not running around under my umbrella. :) Can you tell that I'm a little excited about this one?

ooooh I forgot about Mr. Northam! I loooove his dimples. Maybe it's just the men who have leading roles in Jane Austen movies. Mr Darcy, Colonel Brandon, Mr. Knightly... *drool* Does anyone else indulge in the movie What a Girl Wants just to watch Colin Firth wiggle into leather pants?

I'm really not particular at all :) Froo froo is fun, and so are skulls - as far as likes go, the brighter the colors the better! What about you? Do you have any collections? Favorite color combinations? Animals? Bands/songs? I've finished one project and am gonna get started on the 2nd one. I looked through your favs and projects and think you'll like what I've come up with - but let me know if there's anything you absolutely hate so I don't accidentally send something you'll think is awful :p

One of my favorite costumes ever was when we dressed a friend up as Judas Priest. Just a suit, a white collar and a really old bible plus the name tag sticker that said "Hello My Name Is... Judas"
There's a lot you can do with other band names too that wouldn't be too difficult and be one of a kind. Just a thought :)

RANDOM RANTS!

So - for the record - I like kids. They're lots of fun most of the time, but I am pretty sure that a Child of the Corn was in the store today.
This pretty little blonde girl who had been behaving just like any other little girl, laughing with her sister, looking in awe at the shiny/sparkly costume fabric and conversing with my coworkers about her project, then just randomly started walking towards me, open-mouthed and staring and NOT responding to me when I asked her if I could help her find something or if she had a question, except by intensifying her stare.
For about 5-6 minutes she kept super close to where I was working, staring at me from over a shelf with pure hatred on her face. That is, until her mother came over and THEN she smiled an evil but sweet little smile. I thought the problem was solved by mom's presence, BUT THEN this creepy little brat gets all bossy to her mom about finding a cotton fabric that's "PINK!!!" and starts glaring (which got even creepier) at me when I showed her (and mom) where to find what they were looking for.
Maybe I was supposed to just pick out something for them. But, considering the situation, the wrong answer very well could have led to being attacked with a scythe.
NO thank you.
What the heck happened to kids all of a sudden? I'm amazed by the lack of manners and common courtesy that parents pass down.
Then there was their mother, and her behavior proved that the problem wasn't something chemical in her kids brain, it was more of a follow-the-leader type thing.
After I'd dropped EVERYthing to help them,(Literally dropping everything - I tend to carry large piles of fabric bolts from one side of the store to the other for most of the day - on a side note, WHY DO PEOPLE ALWAYS ASK THE PERSON WITH THEIR ARMS FULL, TO HELP THEM? ESP WHEN THERE'S SOMEONE WITH EMPTY HANDS STANDING BEHIND A COUNTER? GAH!!) she treats me like garbage and she and her lovely daughters proceeded to leave a lovely mess for me/coworkers to clean up.
Anyways - I'm totally having nightmares tonight. And spending a couple hours thinking up clever things I could have said. I love retail.

Ladies. I'm amazed there are no Gerard Butler mentions. DIBBS!! ;)
And then there's a slight obsession I've had over Alan Rickman (NOT as Snape TYVM, but Colonel Brandon...mmmm) I have a weird thing about guys with big noses.
Then there's that crush on Gavin (I finally forgave Gwen for stealing him from me. :p)
I think I must have had that magazine page blown up and plastered on my bedroom wall for years growing up. My poor mother wasn't sure what to do about my Gavin wall lol.

Play Musical Instruments?
Started almost 4 years ago · Last post 4 months ago ·
I had 11 years of classical training on the piano - so I guess that's the one I really play - altho it's been almost 9 years since those lessons and I've gotten a little sloppy.
About ten years ago I was the guitarist/vocalist for a little punk group called The Commanders... we didn't go terribly far after the record label shelved us. Bah.
About 4 years ago I was the vocalist/accordion/synth player for The Lip Tricks - another group that only went as far as outrageous barn parties in the deep south. ;)
Other than that I just started to dabble with the bass
Making music >/= Oxygen

one of those books you just can't put down
Started over 4 years ago · Last post about 2 years ago ·
It's been so long since I picked up a book I couldn't put down. Until I discovered The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. OMG. I had a hard time really appreciating Harry Potter - THIS book is like a more grown up/believable version and it is soooooooo good! Now while I'm anxiously waiting the release of the sequel next year, I keep re-reading the darn thing.
Other than that I'm a memoir junkie and one of my all-time favorites is A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius by Dave Eggers. It's about a guy whose parents die so as a 20 something he has to take care of his little brother. It's heart-wrenching, hilarious, and once in awhile very thought provoking. His writing style alone is worth checking out.

My favorite band is....
Started over 4 years ago · Last post about 1 month ago ·
Sooooo hard. Must list top three 1.) Smashing Pumpkins (Adore is one of the best albums ever) 2.) John Denver (I grew up with it and Leavin' on a Jet Plane has been my favorite song EVER since I was about 3 years old) 3.)The Devil Makes Three - but this third favorite band will change in a couple hours. ;) I just LOVE music

What concerts have you been to?
Started over 2 years ago · Last post over 1 year ago ·
Oh wow - there are way too many to list. Before I moved here I worked for some awesome bands on tour so there have been hundreds of shows.
The latest I've been to for fun however, have been firstly, Social Distortion (Mike Ness is just as amazing as ever - and recognized me from driving through town and stopping at the same red light!)
Local bands at our annual Last Band Standing competition which was every Wednesday ALL summer long - Headwayte, Stephanie Hirche and Three, Indubious, The Idle Threats (which I recommend looking up if you like old school punk rock - they're on MySpace) all made the finals and are all very good.
Um... the coolest story I can think of was a couple years ago I was on George Thorogood's sound crew, installing speakers and such for a huge outdoor performance and during lunch some of the crew and I started talking about music and Thorogood's drummer asked me to play something on the piano, which was on the first floor of the ampitheater by the dressing rooms.
I was glad to oblige and made something up on the spot.
Out of the corner of my eye I saw one of the stage hands hauling an amp into one of the dressing rooms and before I knew it I was jamming with George (Singer of Bad to the Bone, I Drink Alone, Who do you Love?!!!) AND his opening act Buddy Guy - the blues legend himself!
Probably the most surreal and wonderful experience I've had at a show, even though it was before they even took the stage :)
