    Mad Hatter Hat fabric?

well, thanks for the help :)
I eventually didn't use satin but some sort of stretchy green fabric, I'm not sure what it's called.
even with my horrible sewing skills it turned out o.k. :)
    thanks again!

I also have some tuts I found on youtube.
    Would this work with satin?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKcbk6xnSz4

edit: I'm meaning the brim mostly. it feels like wasting alot of fabric + you have this weird like scrap fabric line, right where you sewed it.
If I'd do it with cardboard or something like that, it'd be a flat brim and I quite like the brim that slightly upwards at the edges

yes, I was aiming at a male top hat, I'm not even sure what the differences between the two are.

I don't think satin will be so cheap right now, I don't live in the US and in Europe halloween isn't that big of a deal, so I'll probably just end up at the fabric market.

    Thanks for helping out :)

velvet is just amazing! It looks so cool, but I don't recall seeing it last time I visited the market, but I'll check again.

and the tutorial looks really nice, the hat looks awesome, but i'm afraid it's a bit far fetched for my 'never-uses-a-sewing-machine' skills
I'm gonna stick with cardboard :P

I have here a picture of half my outfit. I'm not quite sure if I will be wearing shorts (jeans) or a purple skirt. I've also lent the Alice book at our library and there's a picture of the Hatter there as well.
I want to stay as close to the original as possible :)

well I'm not going as the Tim Burton/ Johnny Depp verssion if that's what you mean :P
and well, the costume itself will just be very regular with some earthy tones and a few pops of colour, so I'd like to be the hat a vibrant dark green colour with, maybe, a pattern.
Still not sure what kind of fabric to use :S

    Mad Hatter Hat fabric?

Started 8 months ago · Last post 7 months ago ·
    Hello :)
On the topic of this year's Halloween, I have a question. My costume for Halloween will be The Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland and I'm planning on making the hat of cardboard and then cover it with some green fabric.
What fabric could I use best? I'll probably glue it on (are there any other easy ways?)
I went to the market today and velour and silk taffeta (the two toned) really caught my eye, but I have no idea if it will work for this project. Any suggestions?
    thanks

    Hi,
I can't open anything. Every time I want to open a project it says the page wasn't found:
    "Sorry, this page wasn't found.

You may have clicked an expired link or mistyped the address."

this being the case with every single project seems very unbelievable ;)
I use firefox, maybe it's my browser?

    Singlet/ tank top revamp

Started about 2 years ago · Last post about 2 years ago ·
    First of all, hi:)

So I've got this tank top with a flowered back. But since I don't really like the flowers anymore, I want to change the back, but I don't know how, because it has been cut and the flowers are sewed on later (see photos). And if I'd remove the flowers I'd have this triangular gap on the back of my top!
Anyone an idea on how to fix it? because I don't really just throw away the top.
    thanks :)

    gala dress?

Started over 2 years ago · Last post over 2 years ago ·
    Hi!
In a month or so I have a gala/ ball going on at my school, so I wanted to look for a dress in the holidays-vacation, but the thing is, I don't know what to look for.
First, I wanted to DIY, I still want to, but I'm afraid It'll be too hard for me.
We've got a theme too, so the dress kinda needs to suite the theme: masquerade
Anyone tips on shopping for dresses? (preferable long dresses) and/ or how to DIY one?

    thanks

.sorry for my sort of weird sentences/ bad English and stuff.

what do you mean by too short to properly represent your age?
I'm not wearing any leggings :P i do wear white socks, and I actually don't really have to worry about shoes, because most of the time I'll be wearing bowling shoes (haha looking funny in public) and otherwise I'm in house, so probably just on my socks, I will turn the tops down.
    thanks for the tips!

    Hii,

so I've got my 16th birthday coming up, and I'm celebrating it with by best friends b-day too. We decided that we'd theme it: the fifties
but now, I don't really know what to wear, I've googled it, and got quite an idea of the style, but I was wondering how I could create a fifties outfit with regular clothes, if you have any ideas, please tell me.
