Hello there, I thought I would share my latest blog post.
I try to make fairly short and sometimes funny posts, that centre around craft, with a little bit of life slipping in at times. My aim is to write a good, quick tea break read with links to other things for further reading.

Facebook Pages for shops, bands etc
Started 4 months ago · Last post 3 months ago ·
Does any body have a Facebook page for their craft shop, blog, band or other creative business that they would like to share here? It is another useful way of keeping people up to date with what you are doing and networking with those that have similar tastes or objectives.
Mine is craft based (jewellery/art/homewares made from recycled fabric, paper and other materials) and I am hosting my first give away soon...just need a few more "likes" .
http://www.facebook.com/OhNicolaJoy
A word of advice, however is to "like" as yourself, not your page. This is the only way you can be counted as a like and therefore entered into give aways for "likers" etc. You can always add a comment linking to your own page...
:D

Your favorite cake
Started over 1 year ago · Last post 7 months ago ·
Carrot Cake, Lemon Drizzle Cake and most of all a moist Chocolate Fudge cake...which is easy to get wrong if it turns out dry.
I have cheated on occasion and used a Betty Crocker Devil's Food cake and people always remark on my amazing cake making skills (sssshhhh!)

**Happy grams!** (Fourth edition!)
Started over 1 year ago · Last post 1 day ago ·
I just received a Happy gram from Vicki O...for some reason it went to the Post Office depot and I had to pay them...I was racking my brains trying to think what it could be (thought I'd been drunky online shopping again!). What a pleasant surprise, it contained sweets, a card with a lovely message, stash and a corsage. I have not provided photos yet as one of my cats just had six kittens and I have been preoccupied with that, but thank you Vicki O x

Swap Angels for Incomplete Swaps
Started over 1 year ago · Last post about 1 month ago ·
Thankyou...I'm real busy this coming week so maybe next week if I still feel the same I will ask for one. I would not mind being an angel myself but want to get a few successful swaps under my belt first :)

Swap Angels for Incomplete Swaps
Started over 1 year ago · Last post about 1 month ago ·
Are there many swap angels or just two or three people doing it? I'm considering seeing if anybody could be an angel for me? I would love to carry on swapping with cutout+keep but have mainly had experiences where I communicate with the partner, make my items and send them out as soon as I can, letting them know if its running a little late, but then get nothing back in return. I get that people have all kinds of things going on in their lives but I feel a little left in the dark over all this...

The Curiosity Project
Started about 1 year ago · Last post about 1 year ago ·
Not yet, my printer died and spurted a load of ink out at me last time I used it so am considering hand writing the printable tags..although I think its best to print them. I'm totally skint and can't afford a new printer. Everything is such a chore sometimes...I just want to do something nice! :)

Has anybody taken part in any of The Curiosity Projects?
The latest one is called "Out Of The Blue". and the idea is that you leave a little surprise package somewhere public with a tag on asking the recipient to leave a picture on the project blog page. It is such a cute idea, check out the link below and join in...I'm going to do a few x

I don't understand the fake plugs...
Started almost 3 years ago · Last post 28 days ago ·
People adapt and change their appearance for a few different reasons, mainly conformity (whatever genre) or identification or just plain style preference. So many things that used to be seen as "alternative" back in the 80's/90's/00's or whenever just are not any more because our entire culture has changed. Everything has opened up, become more accessible. The world is smaller. We don't just have one music channel telling us which ten songs we should buy this week any more. We have the internet and anybody can access so many things for free. People are more open minded and less restricted in their preferences as a result and that is a good thing.
When I was at school I began to get facial and body piercings and changed my hair colour every week. I lived in a small town and got a bit of stick for it but things like that are not as "weird" as they were. If I had grown up in a large city I would have had to have used a lot more imagination if my goal was truly to be different. I guess I did get some kind of a kick out of standing out but ultimately I was a self obsessed teenager seeking attention. There is so much more to contemporary culture than simply choosing an allegiance with one style or type of music, dressing accordingly so that everyone can tell without having to speak to you and then judging people who don't immediately appear to like the same things.
I am only saying this because it seems that there will always be new people who believe that they are "real" punks or whatever and that other people are "fake". This seems to be a really narrow minded approach, reminding me of myself as a child. Ultimately we are lucky now, anybody can pretty much do what they like, style-wise and there is inspiration to be found in all eras, places and things.
It is and most definitely should remain "each to his own" and each one of them should accept that they too will change over time.

Thankyou so much Lindeh. When you live in a place like my home town, your never stuck for inspiration. But then I get confused as to whether its a craft blog or social commentary/opinions...maybe a bit of both is totally do-able :D

I use Pinterest a lot more since I installed the "pin it" into my bookmarks. Took me a while to figure out and I was only re pinning other's pins which was no fun. Now I can pin something anytime I come accross something I like. I use it instead of bookmarking and its way more organised :)

Snow in the UK!
Started over 1 year ago · Last post over 1 year ago ·
I'm in Leicestershire. I tried to get a pic on Saturday night, when it was snowing heavily and settling. It looked beautiful under the light pollution of the town from my window. My camera battery was down, I went out and alas, it swiftly began to melt away from yesterday. We now have a sludgy mess and fog :(
Once again, the UK media managed to cause a nationwide state of panic for what was basically a few hours of having to drive a bit slower. It is, after all, Winter.

I think that it is important to be yourself...a lot of swearing may put some readers off, but you would have to ask yourself do you want to please everybody? I don't think that you swear too much in your blog. I do not swear a lot when I speak, however sometimes a word is used because it fits. Although too much f-ing and it loses meaning.
I love to browse the internet and look at blogs a lot, as a time waster when I should be doing other things. There are an awful lot of craft blogs out there that tell me " Hi, my name is _ and I have two beautiful kids and I have a beautiful house and I am married to my best friend" etc etc These are the ones that I don't end up following as they are not interesting to me. When I have compiled a list of my favourites I will post it on here :)

I've had a look at all of them, lots of lovely jewellery being made it seems :). I have a blog, but spend more time looking at other peoples and all of the rest of the time wasting stuff on the internet. Maybe that should be what I write my next post about!
