Chocolate almond milk is great! I never like chocolate soy milk, but mom bought chocolate almond milk, and it was great.
I'd recommend it!
DarkAshHurts: Ever try lactose-free soy cheese? So good!
Be careful, some contain casein, an animal-derived ingredient to make it melt better.

I'd love to try the soy nog. I've never really liked normal eggnog, so maybe this would be better.
You could probably freeze it, I'm not sure.

We're here to discuss and support. :)
Also rice milk, almond milk, hemp milk, anything-other-than-cows milk-aholics welcome.
I'll start.
Hi, my name is Loreena and I'm addicted to vanilla soy milk.
(I made this thread out of boredom and I can't stop drinking soy milk. If mods wanna delete it, go ahead.)

I love the debating going on here..
Yeah, I'm not taking anything personally. I've been bullied, so I've learned to let things slide and not get mad about anything.
Sam.. just.. don't swear. That's all we're getting at.

What are you going to be for Halloween?
Started over 2 years ago · Last post over 2 years ago ·
For Halloween, I'm being the Fairy Queen.
It's kind of Labyrinth-inspired, like the Masquerade part. My blonde wig kinda looks like Jareth's.. (:
It's was originally a Goblin Queen, so I could be married to Jareth, but then I decided to add wings, so it'd be easier to recognize.
Plus, I love, love, LOVE A Midsummer Night's Dream, so it's also kind of based on Titania. :D -nerd-
I can't wait to wear it. I'm hand-sewing the whole thing myself. All that's left is to sew a few snaps on my brown fabric for my skirt (so I can just like, drape it, and don't have to sew x]), and I'm going to make my wings tonight. (:

OK, so I didn't see what Sam originally posted, but yeah man, there are kids on here. Don't swear.
Yes, I know Samsquanch. We've known each other since like.. 7th grade. I took him shopping so he could get some t-shirts because he wanted me to tie-dye them.

Hippies: How To Be One.
Started over 2 years ago · Last post over 2 years ago ·
Wow, I honestly never thought this would take off like this!
To clear a few things up:
-They're not rules. It's my opinion. They're just guidelines of what I know.
-Neutrals vs. bright colors: It doesn't matter. Some people might prefer neutral, others bright. Personally, I like neutrals.
-I know I can't be like a hippie from the 60's or 70's. I know things have changed. In my short 15 years, I've seen so many things change. I'm still confused about all this new technology! If you gave me an iPad, I would't know how to use it! I barely know how to operate my DVD player.
-I can't buy a glass bong; I'm underage. A couple people I know have glass pipes. I don't smoke out of plastic often. I know it's unhealthy.
-I don't care if people eat meat. I just prefer that they don't.
Again, I'm just stating what I know. Sorry if I offended anybody. |:

Hippies: How To Be One.

Well hey. I'm Loreena, and I'm a modern-day hippie.
I don't live on the streets because it's too dangerous, but that's not saying I'm not willing to travel with friends in a van all painted up.
I'm here to show you guys how to be hippies! :D
Let's get started!
--
So, you wanna be a hippie, or want to dive deeper into being a hippie? Well, this ain't the 60's.. or even the 70's.. but hippies are still quite popular.
Being a modern-day hippie is a little more work, but I'll try to walk you through what I know about being a hippie.
--
HAIR:
Hippies MUST have long hair! Grow it as long as possible, yet keep it clean!
When washing your hair, use a natural shampoo. I like Alba. I don't recommend conditioner. It's not important.
Men, grow a beard. Don't keep it neatly trimmed as you usually would; let it grow.
Girls, stick a flower over your ear. If that doesn't work, get a headband, the kind that you wrap around and tie at the back. A hippie band. You can stick the flower in that if you choose to.
--
CLOTHING:
People think hippies wear a lot of tie-dye. That is not true. Tie-dye is optional. I like it, but you might not.
There are tons of tie-dying methods over the internet. Most actual hippies from the 60's and 70's admit to using Rit dye to do theirs. You won't get fabulous patterns like you might see in a store, but it's handmade. You can make it look like what you want. It's freedom of expression!
FRINGE is a must! Jackets, purses, pants, shirts.. anything! If it's fringed or frayed, wear it! Hell, I have a fringed bikini.
Girls, a halter top is always a sure-fire way to look like a hippie. A small one that shows your middrift is perfect. Oh yeah, stop wearing bras. If you have to, wear one that doesn't have an underwire. You could always make your own.
Band t-shirts are great with a pair of bell bottoms, or girls, a flowing peasant skirt or if you're daring, a micro-mini skirt.
Skirts and dresses can look like whatever you want, but they should have an east-Indian look to them, or Moroccan.
Men, leather or army jackets are fantastic. Raid a local thrift shop for a great used one at a reasonable price.
Bell bottoms are necessary for both genders.
Shoes: Don't wear them. If you have to, wear sandals. Flip flops or flat espadrilles, even gladiator sandals are fine. I hate wearing shoes, even though I have several pairs, so I usually go bare feet outside.
Men could wear combat boots.
Try to keep everything natural-colored. Being a hippie means relating to the earth.
Also, try not to wear a lot of leather, and try not to wear black as much as possible. Hippies like bright colours.
Madras and muslin are quite favourable.
--
MUSIC:
Look to Woodstock for this one.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Woodstock_Festival
Hippies listen to a variety of music, but mostly soft rock, folk rock, hard rock, psychadelic rock, heavy metal, and a bit of blues.
Basically, if they did drugs, hippies listened to them.
Other bands would include (but are not limited to) the Beatles, the Sweet, the Doors (my personal fave), Aerosmith (did you know Steven Tyler was at Woodstock? Yeah.), the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Led Zeppelin, Alice Cooper, the Mamas and the Papas, David Bowie, Herman's Hermits, ABBA, Bad Company, etc.
Listen to what you want. There are no limits! These are just suggestions.
--
FOOD:
Very basic: Go veggie.
Do NOT eat meat!
Meat comes from animals, and hippies are against animal cruelty!
--
ACCESSORIES:
:D
Hippies love accessories.
Headbands are a must. They keep your long hair back and look totally radical.
Large sunhats are great if you like them. They help shield the sun when you're not wearing sunglasses. If you wear sunglasses, get aviators or those little round John Lennon-style ones, preferrably blue-tinted. I still wear knock-off Ray-Bans.
Large pendants on a necklace look great.
Beads woven or braided into hair look super adorable.
Most jewellery should be hand-woven or braided out of fabric scraps. It makes them more unique.
A peace sign is crucial. It tags you as a hippie automatically. It shows that you want no more war in this world (OBAMA IS PULLING THE TROOPS OUT OF IRAQ~!), only peace. At least one peace sign is always needed. You can wear it on a necklace, make a patch, or pin one on something.
For purses, a cross-body style is what you need. Go for an India-inspired print, or make one out of some broadcloth.
--
DRUGS:
Alright, kids. I'm going to talk to you about drugs.
I know most people are against them, and I will admit, I used to be too.
It's a common misconception that all hippies take drugs and trip balls. That's not true.
Yes, a lot of hippies did take drugs because they believed it freed your spirit and let you become more creative, more free, and more loving.
Some hippies did not believe that drugs were great, so they decided not to do them, and that's ok.
Whether or not you choose to do them is your choice. Remember, you're breaking away from the system. You don't care what anyone else says.
Personally, I think drugs are okay, as long as you don't go overboard.
And no, I'm not under the influence writing this.
--
MAKE-UP:
Hippies do not wear make-up. If they do (which is very, very seldom), it has to be all-natural, paraben and fragrance free, and of course, not tested on animals.
--
RELIGION/BELIEFS:
Also, pretty simple here.
Love your country, hate your government.
Protests are effective ways to show your beliefs and what you think is right.
Demand that the government pull all troops out of the war. Obama is already taking them out of Iran. FINALLY. Stupid Bush..
--
NUDITY:
Yes. Hippies like to go nude. At Woodstock, about half the audience was naked.
The 60's was a time of sexual liberation. Teenagers went against their parents and what their parents thought was right, which was abstaining from sexual activity until marriage.
Being naked in public will get you arrested, but if you're at an outdoor music festival, go wild. Take your clothes off if you feel comfortable doing so.
--
TRANSPORTATION:
You're all familiar with the buses and "Love Bugs", correct?
Both are popular hippie vehicles.
Get a Volkswagon, some paint, and creativity. Go nuts. Go on an acid trip then paint what you see.
--
A few basic outlines:
-Promote peace, love, and freedom.
-Do NOT,I repeat, do NOT start living on the streets. There are too many people out to cause harm, and not everybody likes hippies.
-For the love of God, bathe.
-A little patchouli smells great.
-When camping outside, make your own tent.
-Recycle!
-Do not start a campfire within city limits. The cops will be called. I speak from experience, here.
-Do not use heat or anything to style your hair! If you must curl your hair (like I love to do), use Michelle Phan's paper bag technique (search around YouTube).
-Be able to pack and leave at any moment. Hippies are like gypsies in that sense.
-If you're comfortable, bathe in rivers. I've seen many hippies do that.
-Burn incense or candles a lot.
-If you choose to do drugs, make pipes out of aluminum foil and bongs can be made out of several materials, plastic bottles being the easiest.
-Don't try to force your beliefs on anyone.
-Skinny dip.
-Most of all, have fun. Be free, my brothers and sisters!
--
I'm not telling you all to be hippies. It's a personal choice.
This is just what I know, and basically, what I'm like.
Do a little bit of research if you do choose to become more hippie-like.
Love,
Loreena.

PETA?

I've been a member of PETA for almost two years, and I'm a vegetarian. Sometimes I do cheat and have a little bit of meat.
Hell, I've got my mom converting to vegetarianism because of a PETA thing I gave her to read.

Talk Dirty To Me by Poison
You know I never
I never seen you look so good
You never act the way you should
But I like it
And I know you like it too
The way that I want you
I gotta have you
Oh yes, I do
You know I never
I never ever stay out late
You know that I can hardly wait
Just to see you
And I know you cannot wait
Wait to see me too
I gotta touch you
[Chorus]
Cause baby we'll be
At the drive-in
In the old man's Ford
behind the bushes
until I'm screamin' for more
Down the basement
lock the cellar door
And baby
Talk dirty to me
You know I call you
I call you on the telephone
Im only hoping that you're home
So I can hear you
When you say those words to me
And whisper so softly
I gotta hear you
Cause baby we'll be
At the drive-in
In the old man's Ford
behind the bushes
until I'm screamin' for more
Down the basement
lock the cellar door
And baby
Talk dirty to me
C.C. pick up that guitar and talk to me!
[C.C.'s solo]
Cause baby we'll be
At the drive-in
In the old man's Ford
behind the bushes
until I'm screamin' for more
Down the basement
lock the cellar door
And baby
Talk dirty to me
And babe, Talk dirty to me (x2)
Uh
Whoa
I'm Slaying at you baby
Oh Yeah
..whatever you say Bret.. ;)

What was the last movie you watched?
Started about 6 years ago · Last post about 1 month ago ·
Last movie.. well, full movie, was Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.
Actual last movie, which I had to turn off because I was going to bed, was the Phantom of the Opera.
Still know it word-for-frickin'-word. :)

DRIVING WHILE ON YOUR CELL
Started over 3 years ago · Last post about 3 years ago ·
Thank God you're ok! Yeah, it's good that your boyfriend took control and there were witnesses. I hope that bitch gets a fine or something.
Driving on your cell is now illegal here. It came into affect about two months ago or so.
I think my older sister still does it though.

Jem is my name, no one else is the same!
She's truly, truly, truly outrageous.
I'm a nineties kid, but my oldest sister used to watch Jem when she was little, and her and my mom got me onto it. :)

Getting to know each other!
Started over 3 years ago · Last post about 3 years ago ·
Reason for your screen name: I love Cobra Starship's new song "Hot Mess" (even though I think their old stuff is best), and I'm a big Coco Chanel fan.
Name: Loreena (usually get Reena)
Home country: Canada
Home town: Stratford, Prince Edward Island (seriously, google Prince Edward Island. I live in that gorgeous place!)
Favorites~
color: Purple/black/orange
animal: hmm.. I don't know. I don't really have one. Uh.. I like giraffes?
song: "Walk This Way" by Aerosmith and "Paradise City" by Guns N' Roses. Oh, and "Love Me Two Times" by the Doors!
place to hang out in your area: uh... not really one. The little shady park around the corner, I guess. Or the elementary school playground. It rocks.
What's cool about your hometown/locale? Nothing, except for that you see foxes everywhere.
What do you do to pamper/spoil/indulge yourself? Treat myself to a tea tree mud mask about once a week if possible. It smells horrible but makes your skin look great. :)

Alice in Wonderland
Started about 3 years ago · Last post almost 3 years ago ·
These crafts are so cute!
I can't wait for the movie. I'm going tomorrow with my mom, who is also a huge Johnny/Helena/Tim fan, and I'm going in a sort of Red Queen inspired outfit, with a little hair bow I made out of a 8 of Hearts playing card (found the tutorial on here!).
I've known about the movie since about May or June, maybe earlier, 'cause I did a project on Tim Burton when I was in grade 8.
I saw it on Wikipedia that "he is currently working on a reproduction of 'Alice In Wonderland' starring Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter for early March 2010" and was like "Score! This is going to be wicked!"

Cosplay is short for Costume-Play. :)
It's huge in Japan, and has quickly spread all over the world.
It's mainly dressing up as an anime/manga/video game character, and going to anime conventions (or as I call them, Nerd Fests).
You can dress up as anything you want.
It's so much fun!
My latest costume I'm going to be is Rikku from Final Fantasy X.

Why Do You Enjoy Sewing?
Started over 3 years ago · Last post 7 months ago ·
I love sewing because it relaxes me, well, it's relaxing when I'm hand-sewing. My machine, Bowie (yes, after David Bowie), likes to be a douche and not work, but lately he's fine after I renamed him. He was named Tamaki, from Ouran High School Host Club.
I don't suppose the Disney stickers helped the situation either.
I like to sew because I can create something personal. I've been sewing since I was 10 (I'm almost 15), and the first thing I made was a bag out of too-small denim shorts, all hand-stitched. My dad and step-mom bought be a little pink Barbie sewing machine around then, too, and I made little doll clothes, or little bags.
I love to hand-paint shirts, and when I wear them to school, all I ever get is "Where'd you get your shirt? I love it!", and when I say I made it, they don't believe me. I like to make jewelery too, mostly earrings.
I've made other things too, like a coat for an anime convention costume, Max from Where The Wild Things Are costume.. practically every costume I have, I made.
I like to put on the soundtrack to The Phantom Of the Opera when I sew. It relaxes me, I can softly sing along, and AC/DC won't distract me! haha.
Anything I can create and personalize, I'll do it. I'm my own person, I don't want your boring manufactured clothes.
