I've been searching everywhere for a vegan royal icing suitable for making flowers on cakes with no luck. Everything I have found so far just ends up melting into a huge blob before I even get the first layer of petals on. I was just wondering if anyone had any eggless recipes they have had any luck with before!
Thanks a lot!

What are you reading?
Started almost 6 years ago · Last post over 1 year ago ·
I just read Go Ask Alice, which is fairly out of character since I never really read, especially for recreation (being forced to read and analyze so many books for school has ruined it for me), however after reading a blurb about it, it reminded me a lot of the string of events someone close to me has been/still is in. I can honestly say that I sat on my bed and read it front to back in one day (which isn't that impressive, since the font is pretty big, and it is a diary, so the pages aren't that beefy).
Now all I want to do is read.

Does anyone else write poetry?
Started over 5 years ago · Last post over 3 years ago ·
I was forced to partake in a poetry contest my senior year of high school where I had to write and recite a poem in front of an audience and judges.
I was recently asked to submit a poem or another type of short writing to someone I know whom is compiling works of written or visual art made by students, and will be publishing and distributing it in a low-key underground project. I'm still unsure as to whether or not I'm going to do anything for it.

WHY does school need to be so expensive??
Started over 3 years ago · Last post over 3 years ago ·
My university costs about $25,000 a year, and my books have ranged from $100-750 a semester. Luckily I got a lot of scholarships so that I do not have to pay it myself.
And also:
Eh, on a vegetarian diet the most important things you need to make sure you get are protein, iron, Omega-3 and B12.
Eggs and dairy products are both good sources of B12 (that's more of a vegan worry), but if you do only eat what you listed here you aren't getting the other nutrients. I would suggest maybe getting spinach instead of lettuce, as it's packed with vitamins and minerals-namely iron, and then maybe getting canned beans, which are pretty cheap and can last you a while. This will satisfy your protein and a lot of other necessary nutrients. Omega-3 is an essential fatty acid, which means that your body needs it, but cannot manufacture it on its own. It's frequently overlooked in the vegetarian/vegan diet, but is really important to good health. A lot of places that sell vitamins have it in the form of capsules of flax seed oil (instead of fish oil, which is how it's normally taken), but if you do not want to go out and get them, you can just get flax seeds instead. If you eat those things, you'll also get other important vitamins and minerals that you may be losing out on, but like I said, those are usually the most neglected or essential.
Sorry for such a long-winded answer, I've had to prove my knowledge of my meat-free diet many times to prove that I am consuming a healthy balance of foods.

Tattoos & Piercing
Started over 5 years ago · Last post about 1 year ago ·
I have two piercings in each of my ear lobes, and one in my left ear's cartilage, and my septum. I had the cartilage one done once, and then took it out because it was forming scar tissue, and then decided to redo it myself.
I keep throwing around the idea of getting my nostril pierced, I'll see how it goes.
I know I want a tattoo, but I'm not sure of what I want, and don't want anything that I will regret later in life.

I'm going to try to make a taco costume.
I had no idea what to be, and then I thought about this and laughed- so I'm going for it!
I just hope it doesn't turn into a disaster.

emo v.s punk
Started almost 5 years ago · Last post about 3 years ago ·
Emo did come from the D.C. hardcore punk scene- the main difference being lyrics. The emo scene branched out to more emotional and personal feelings, whereas the hardcore and punk scene stuck more towards political statements. The emo music scene also strayed away from having short brash songs- which the punk scene was known for, to a more intricate drawn out experience. It's been said that those in the emo scene tried to learn their instruments more, and were more experimental than punk bands.
With all that being said, I like 90's emo music, and newer music that connects closely to it, and I like most punk.

What Piercings Do You Have?
Started about 4 years ago · Last post over 3 years ago ·
I have two piercings in each of my ear lobes, one in my upper left ear cartilage and my septum.
The lobe piercings hurt very little both during the piercing and healing. My cartilage piercing did not hurt while getting pierced, but the healing process was grueling and any touch- especially from accidental phone or sleeping contact was extremely painful. It still gets sore if I sleep on it in a certain way, even though I have had it for about 6 years.
My septum did not hurt at all getting pierced, but my eyes did start to water because my piercer dropped one of the balls for the ring and flinched- which made the threading of the ring hit my sinuses. It was fairly tender for a while and if I touch it in a certain way it's uncomfortable, but overall not bad. I've had that pierced for almost 8 months.

Tweet, Tweet: Do you Twitter?
Started over 3 years ago · Last post over 3 years ago ·
I use Twitter, a lot of times it's just things I find to be humorous that happen around me, or me getting my sarcastic comments out of my head without getting me in trouble.
