I did a giveaway where I got people to like and share to enter the giveaway. I went from having about 50 likes to over 200 and have managed to hold onto them since.

I'm okay at crocheting but have never attempted anything like a plush and think that might be a bit beyond me. I was thinking of sewing it out of something like fleece. I've got a pinterest board I'm pinning pics of them on and pics of any of the suggestions people are adding here. I think I'll have to start with a small one and then if the pattern works make a bigger one.

You could start a facebook page for people to get updates and learn more about your preparations for the walk. It could link to a justgiving page so people could donate there. Also if you have twitter use this too. If in doubt add lots of cute pics of cats & dogs to remind people of why the cause is important.

I signed up a few years ago but there seemed to be so much red tape before you could even start swapping that I gave up. Although I've been flaked on a few times here I much prefer co&k. It feels less formal and more supportive.

facebook or no facebook?

I keep my account for maintaining contact with friends and family but rarely use it. I agree that a hell of a lot of people use it to create drama which can be really irritating. The only other thing I use it for is for my shop as I have a facebook page to promote my shop but other than that my use is pretty minimal. I've recently started using path and prefer that.

I don't have a TV but I love watching films so have tons of DVDs. I also love playing computer games either on my laptop, ipod or DS and I like doing puzzles and surfing the web.

Anything that relates to some of the popular memes always goes down well on Etsy, Ebay etc. Also things that are a bit geeky in theme as you know that your customers will already enjoy shopping online and enjoy surfing the web. You could also try making some crocheted brooches, mug cosies, jewellery. Also if you're selling your stuff online make sure you make good use of the free social media that can be used for marketing your stuff. It can really help drive traffic to your shop. Facebook and twitter are good ones to use. Also make sure your product shots do anything you make justice. I know you are still in the planning stage but it can make a massive difference to your sales.

I remember having a really bad perm once - my sister did it with a home perming kit and the curls in the back dropped out almost immediately and the front of my hair went really really curly - kind of bubble curls. I ended up having to get it done again at the hairdressers but it didn't suit me at all and wasn't what I wanted but the hairdresser seemed to think it was a better option than cut it all off or cut the curly bits off.

There are some very cool wigs out there - I got a navy blue one recently as I fancy having blue hair again but without all the work. I like the idea of wearing a headscarf with big earrings. I think the hardest bit of having short hair is feeling feminine but thats when make up and jewellery come in handy. Also the little tiny hair grips which you buy for children work well in short hair as do the tiny bulldog clippy things (can't think what the name is). You can also play around with colours and different products when its short. I loved how Sarah Harding (Girls Aloud) had her hair when it was short. Also Michelle Williams looks incredibly feminine. The other thing with having v short hair is it seems to grow really quickly. I don't think it actually grows any faster but you notice it much more. You could try something like a plush toy thats filled with rice/wheat to make a heat pack. I've seen tutorials on here and will add a link in a sec. You could also make her something like an eye mask as hospitals are meant to be pretty tricky to sleep in. Or you could make her up a little survival kit with all the things she'll need to survive her hospital stay. I made my niece something similar when she went to her first music festival. I included things like hand sanitiser, ear plugs, eye mask, a little bit of make up, a small can of dry shampoo, etc.

I've been pinning every cartoon or plush similar to get ideas. It helps to know they're called water bears too. I'm thinking I might need to use some elastic round the nossel thingy so that it has that hoover bag appearance that they seem to have.

I haven't the foggiest how to even start this or what to make it from - it sounds as if they'd like it to be a plush type toy. It looks to me like an alien hoover bag to me so any suggestions or ideas how to recreate one would be very welcome :)
