What are you itching to make?

Started 12 days ago · Last post about 7 hours ago ·
I want to make stuff that I don't have the room for yet! I watch the DIY Network a lot so I really want to make furniture and such. However, I still live with my parents (Honestly I'm just waiting... well, looking for a job and we can move OUT!) and yeah... Can't fit such things in my room, even though it's the biggest... Besides furniture, I also want to make home decor. But, I need to find or make the stuff (We have plenty of scrap wood in the garage... and power tools!) in order to have the stuff to do stuff to the stuff to in the first place! Grr... I'm taking the word "itching" and making that into "frustrating"!

What kind of dress would hide my big tummy?

Started about 1 year ago · Last post 17 days ago ·
You could get an underbust corset. I love mine... They're actually quite comfortable, as well. (I have 3 of them, now!) A lot of people think it would be hard to breathe in corsets, but that isn't the case. They shouldn't ever be constricting your lungs, especially an underbust. While I'm wearing mine, it's sort of awkward to get into a car, and sitting down may be an issue until you learn to just give in and sit up straight, which makes you look skinnier anyhow.

Be warned, though... When I wear my corset, I either don't feel hungry at all, or I just can't tell if I'm hungry or not so I end up eating more. (It's time for dinner; am I hungry? Well I don't feel NOT hungry... So I guess I'll eat... EVERYTHING!)

I got my corsets from a small company called Damsel In This Dress. The underbusts I have are all only $55. Here is her Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/damseldress?fref=ts

What animal do you see yourself as??

Started 7 months ago · Last post 23 days ago ·
A badger! Lol no, that's just my last name. I think a cat, but that's because they're my favorite animal. Let's see, I'm shy(ish), don't care what people think of me, have a hard time holding conversations because I can't think of what to say, I'm very quiet, very creative. Probably a small animal who stays afraid of humans even when in captivity all it's life and used to people. I know! A goldfish. A creative gold fish. My memory would be to crappy to care what people think or to hold conversations or remember people so I'm always afraid of them. There you go!

Okay this is for teenagers, what do you want to become!!

I want to be a veterinarian. Not only do I want to be a vet, but I want to open a huge clinic where we will have dog kennels, dog runs, payment plans, cheap popular surgeries (such as spays/neuters) and basically a way for people to take better care of their pets because we give them more options. I want to be able to work with every kind of animal but since I want to open a clinic I will probably focus on popular pets, exotic pets, and livestock. I want to be able to watch over dogs and cats when their owners go out of town to the best possible degree of care I can. A few times a year I want to offer free spays/neuters, and maybe shots. The Toyota car dealership washes your car every time you have them do something to your car for free, that's something I think I could adopt for the clinic (I mean with the pets though haha). I want to do fundraisers to help cure diseases in animals, and fundraisers when someone's animal needs a surgery or something that is really expensive and they can't afford it but their animal will die otherwise. I want to help people in really desperate situations with their animals. I want to help animal rescues as well.

Basically, I need to win the lottery that gives you 10 million AND THEN $5000 every week for the rest of your life. Save it all up while I'm in school for the vet, then have that all to help people. I want to be the vet who changes animals and their owners lives. I can only hope that I can complete part of this dream.

    Lots and lots of lace...

Started 3 months ago · Last post 6 days ago ·
Well you can dye it a different color to go with whatever you want, if the color is one thing that is putting you off making stuff with it. I have some lace too and have no idea what to do with it because it's like 4 inches wide. I have like half inch lace that I think I could use to make panties with.

Since there is 15 feet of it, you could use it to put at the bottom of a petticoat! That way it will show from underneath a skirt and look pretty. Otherwise since it's so wide idk what I would do with it. If it were smaller, I would put it as the edging of a cloak/cape, skirts, bottom of shirts.

    Corset tutu dress

Started 5 months ago · Last post 3 months ago ·
Also, if you are having a hard time making this into a 1 piece dress, just make the tutu and wear it with the corset... I have been doing this recently and it looks great. Just make sure to add enough fabric to the tutu!

    Bad Crafter Blues

Started 3 months ago · Last post 3 months ago ·
Having an inspiration board is fabulous, I want to have a more physical, not online one, but I don't have a color printer to just print stuff out.

I have a drawing book that I use to sketch ideas out, write down details of what they would have, (like where pockets would go on a purse) and try to figure out how I would put it together. This takes a lot less time than actually doing the project, and it kind of jump starts my mind on thinking about something I could do right now instead of later.

I also like to take a look at all of my crafting stuff, which is A LOT because I sew, make jewelry, draw, woodburn, write, attempt to cook... and try to just think of things that I can do with what I have.

Smaller things to make could include hair accessories (like knit/crochet small flowers and attach them to headbands, clips, etc.), bracelets, sketches, simple shirt recons, and cookies, to name a few. Or try knitting/crocheting simpler items, like a simple scarf, that you can put down and pick up later, to try to get into the habit of breaks.

    Corset tutu dress

Maybe you can paint the grommets for the corset one of the colors you mentioned. You could lace it up with one of the colors. You could add trim in the colors around the edges of the corset?

What to do with embroidery when it's done for V-DAY??

Started 4 months ago · Last post 4 months ago ·
I am going to embroider a picture of our hedgehog for my boyfriend for Valentine's day. The question is, what do I do with the embroidery afterward? I was thinking a pillow, but I want other ideas to think about before deciding on my only thought. We are not living in our own place atm, so if I made it into more of a wall hanging, it's going to end up put away for a long time and I want this to hang around for at least a while before it's forgotten...

    In need of some help!

Started 4 months ago · Last post 4 months ago ·
If you are buying brand new, it will come with a manual that will cover the basics. You'd be best off looking up specific things (How to sew a zipper, how to tension thread, what stitch should I use with jersey knit fabric, etc.) on youtube or google instead of just a general how to use a sewing machine.

One thing you should know, is that there are going to be so many things that you aren't going to even think of that could be a problem. You have to use different needles for different fabrics, you have to figure out the tension for different fabrics, all sorts of things. The best thing you can do is find a experienced sewer in your town and become close friends! I have been figuring it out as I go, so it's possible to do without an expert. I pick up tips online and off the manual, and just do trial and error.

My sewing machine that I just bought has numbers clearly marking how to thread, so hopefully you'll get a model like that!

What do you do with your crafts??

Started 5 months ago · Last post 3 months ago ·
I have a ton of jewelry that I've made that I don't wear; I plan on selling it all eventually but I don't know how to get started. I don't have a job, so I don't want to pay money to host things on a site that may or may not sell. I sort of don't trust craiglist, either. I would rather not figure out a way to meet someone around town and just mail it to them.

    Help with ingrown hairs?

Started 5 months ago · Last post 4 months ago ·
    hopefully you see this...

Make sugar scrub! When you get in the shower, scrub it on your legs. Then WASH YOUR LEGS GOOD.... Because there will be dead skin flakes and if you don't wash them off after the sugar scrub and then try to shave, our razor becomes clogged with dead skin cells. Just to remind you of what you already know I suppose. I have been doing this, and I haven't been having as much as a problem with ingrown hairs. I pick at them too, but I like my legs to look pretty so I can wear shorts and skirts.

    52 week money challenge

Started 5 months ago · Last post 4 months ago ·
I think I might try this, but with a set amount of money every week, because I don't have a job and I don't know if I will be able to put in the larger amounts at the end of the year.

This would be roughly $114.83 a month. So about $30 a week. Maybe I should start small and see if I get a job...

What are you doing for St. Valentine's Day?

Started 5 months ago · Last post 4 months ago ·
I am probably going to make my boyfriend heart shaped homemade reeses candies. Since I made him some cupcake sized ones for xmas, I'm most likely going to be stuck making those for him whenever he thinks he can convince me too! A couple of years ago I just bought him almost 1 of every kind of reeses candy. He also really wants bacon roses.... I just don't want to have to deal with the stems, but I don't really think they look that good without them. Plus, I would like to keep the fake roses for myself.

How do you motivate yourself to do crafts instead of collect ideas?

Started 10 months ago · Last post 8 months ago ·
I have this problem off and on. When I get motivated, I get through what I want really fast and then have nothing to do, so then I'm sad.

My biggest problem when getting things finished is when I am making something for someone other than myself. People like to change up everything they want, then I get a little pissy about it. Try finding some easy to make project that you can make for yourself that you REALLY REALLY want, and it might help boost you into a crafting mood.

It helps if you do a lot of different crafts, (cooking IS considered an art!) because then you can switch between things you feel like doing (complicated to more simple maybe). I personally have a collection of beads, chainmaille, charms/pendents, sketch books, yarn (I knit), and hand-me-down clothing to cut up. I also have a glass bead making kit, diamond glaze, an extra scrabble game, wood burning tool, an embroidery hoop, extra books/magazines I don't read, little glass bottles, tape, glue, black construction paper, ribbon, scrapbook paper... My room is not very neat because I keep all of this stuff around. However, HAVING it around really helps me be able to craft in my free time. I personally don't like watching TV because I can make stuff. Right now, if I had a bag of small bells from Micheals, I have 2 projects I want to do. But, right now, I don't, and I don't have the money for it.

I have all of this other stuff, but I want to finish my anklet and do some little bell hair thingy, and I'm more focused on those 2 things. I'm also discouraged right now because of some recent projects that didn't turn out.

So basically, all the advice I've managed to give you is to have a large amount of craft materials that you can at least TRY, (that's what I do, just try tons of different stuff) so you can find what you really LIKE to do, and to make yourself something easy and fast that you really want if you're making something for someone else. But at least I gave you advice? ^^ Hopefully I helped!

Also, I think you'll find that you want people who have this problem and ALSO have found a way to FIX the problem, instead of just people who have this problem. People who are crafty will probably have a crafty answer for you. Maybe they have always had an answer to this problem which is why they never have the problem. Don't cut out a source of information!

    How to display ear cuffs??

Started 9 months ago · Last post 9 months ago ·
I hope that you are notified that I am posting here!

While I was at the Renaissance Faire this year, there was a booth with ear cuffs. They had a sort of tray about an inch deep, that had these shelves. On the shelves were these kind of prongs, or "fingers" sticking up, that they slid the cuffs onto. They were small enough for the cuffs to rest near the bottom of the "fingers". They presented the tray in an upright standing position, so that saves space.

Hope that helps! I have been looking for other answers, but it's a hard idea to think up!

Started over 2 years ago · Last post over 2 years ago ·
I really want to enter the current contest but I just uploaded my project about an hour or so ago and today is the last day! It's been a while since I uploaded and I can't remember how long it took to get approved and published. I'm so frustrated because I just feel that for once I may actually have somewhat of a chance of being considered to be a winner, you know? I never do contests because I see all the other things that people have made and I get so discouraged. I didn't know the contest was going on until last night T.T Gah!

I suggest sending a message to Tom. Posting in the boards attract mods attention much slower, so maybe the problem will be dealt with much faster. Also, include as many details as you can, but STICK TO THE POINT. Don't ever start rambling because it's harder to find the problems in a wall of ranting text.

    Tattoos & Piercing

Started over 5 years ago · Last post about 1 year ago ·
I found this page just recently, maybe you all would like to take a look at it.. or not..
    http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.fastlanetransport.ca/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/07/body_branding.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.lifeinthefastlane.ca/extreme-body-piercing-branding-scarification/offbeat-news&usg=__z_TW1eOBRtApfAGFkxm4nhroaw4=&h=365&w=360&sz=134&hl=en&start=1&um=1&tbnid=VEj92AzMG_e_qM:&tbnh=121&tbnw=119&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dbranding%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN

Yes, it's a long link.. It has numerous pictures of extreme.. and I mean EXTREME.. piercings, branding, scarification and implants.

I only have three piercings, two in my right ear [one of those was done by a drun friend wielding a ordinary thumb tack] and one in my left. Plan for more soon.
