Sacred Space

Does anyone here have a space cleared out in their home just for meditation and relaxation, a special garden, or a favorite place in nature? I'd love to make a sacred space somewhere in the house, but don't know where to start! My favorite place to go in nature is Bryson City in the NC mountains - nothing beats sitting on a big rock near or in the creek, listening to the flow of the water, the birds chirping and the breeze in your hair!!

I'd also love to find the perfect forest glade or clearing, but I don't know of anything like that here. ^.^

LeejLicious I can sympathise with you. I'd LOVE to have a place like that to go to, unfortunatly I live in a town... to get to anywhere like that I'd have to go on a 30 min drive round the M25!! and I don't drive myself so the point of someone driving me there defeats the point...

But it does look amazing!!

Since Im generally sooo busy with schoolwork, I dont usually leave my house to meditate (plus its just too damn cold in the winter). My office area has a big window with a big ledge that acts as my meditation space.

I just have a cushion with my incense holder and singing bowl next to it, as well as my plants Happy (more accurately plant, since my lavendar died). I do get a nice view in the spring and fall though since we have a bunch of big trees and plants and a planter just outside my window.

I have a place where I love to go when I have problems or somethings bothering me.It was a brick factory once but its abandoned for many years now.It has small hills around it and i have one favorite hill that I climb on and sit there for hours. Its peacefull but creepy at the same time.

My special place to go is the grave yard next to where I live it's so peaceful and there is a wood to one side. Foxes live there and often come out to the path. It's really beautiful right now. It's snow covered.

My Sacred Space is My Roof. On days when it's clear, sunny and mild in temperature I sit on my roof and have a glorious view of the country side and the river by my home. On days when it's unsafe to climb atop my roof I have a clearing in behind the farmers field where he con't grow crops so it becomes a nice little habitat for little critters and it's right by the water. Absolutely Beautiful! Yet still, nothing beats the art room and a stormy winter day. Art always finds a way to relax me. ^.^

Last June me and my bf got rid off our telly. We hadn't watched it in before Christmas so we figured we wouldn't miss it. Since then our living room our relaxation area. We go in there to read, I do my meditating and yoga in there and I also use it for my massage work and we like listening to music and just chilling out. We need to sort out the furniture a bit though as its not quite how we want it. Its a bit odd getting rid of the telly though is we had a really big one which was the main focus of the room so I think we probably need to invest in some nice posters or put up one of our throws on the wall. We'll have to work it out and maybe I'll post a pic when we do Happy

i take a walk down by the river next to my house when i need to clear my head. The Buddhist monk that teaches me meditation says you dont need a place you just close your eyes and meditate he has even suggested while on the loo !!!! which i havent taken him up on Happy
but it makes me feel calmer having beautiful things around me so i dont have a space as such but a bunch of things i place in which ever place is the most tidy a comfy cushion,a pretty little rug, smelly candles and some photos of my family etc
yeah arty i need to get rid of my tv too maybe i will exchange with someone for a small one that i can put in the cupboard the do dominate the room they are in.
